Reminded me of the northeast blackout we had in 2001. Very similar situation where all the failsafe measures... failed. It was a 500kv switching error which is just massive. The guy who made the error will probably be transferred to a different department against his will. But the district operator is gonna hang for this one lol.

Drinking beer, playing games, and working on your bike...my idea of fun. In addition to doing that, you could have, oh I don't know, ridden your bike.

Sucks about the outage. I can't stand it myself, especially once it's dark and it limits what you can do.

Torture...torture was me needing almost an hour and a half of cursing, screaming, gritting my teeth, balling up my fist, cursing again, and then finally having to walk away several times this morning while trying to remove ... wait for it....

wait for it...

an OIL FILTER! Never in my life have I had to deal with a filter so stubborn. The IDIOT(S) who did the oil change as part of the service on my ZX before I took delivery of it back in April must have not been taught how to properly install a filter. I'll post pictures of it later in a new thread.

It took a screwdriver through part of it with me using channel locks against the screwdriver as leverage to finally get the thing off.

Riding the bike during a power failure is probably a bad idea unless you're way out in the country/mountains. Traffic lights don't function so it's a 4-way stop at every intersection (hoping people do stop) and it's pitch black at night because of no street lights. Also, traffic gets extreme because of the lack of traffic lights and everyone trying to get home.

I just hung out at the beach with bonfires going so it wasn't so bad.

It was so effin hot that night too! All I could do was sweat. Luckily I wasn't at work and had to deal with all the crabby customers. I just dealt with my own crabby self, hehe!

Cuong, I ride at night all the time. It doesn't bother me.

Besides, I thought the power went out pretty early and it's still summer, so there should have been plenty of daylight to ride.

Hell, I just look for excuses to ride.

I understand the lure of riding as much as you can, but it definitely wouldn't be fun during a power outage. There's more traffic and you have to stop at every single intersection since there's no traffic lights. Basically the ride would be sitting still for much of your time and waiting which isn't very enjoyable for me. I can lane split to the front, but I still have to stop every block.

Riding at night and riding at night that's pitch black are two diferrent scenarios.

When I ride at night, it is pitch black! I live outside of Atlanta, but I'm far enough away that I don't have lights on every street, nor do I have to worry about intersections very often. I could see how that many intersections would be an unpleasant experience.

I was supposed to be preparing to leave San Diego but this got me stuck for another weekend doing security (lots of access control systems were messed up).
