Front caliper behavior when turning left

when I turn the wheel to the left, my front brake lever almost touches the handle bar when I squeeze it. I can see that the entire front caliper is moving as I squeeze the lever. I believe this movement is allowing the pistons to extend more, and that's why the lever moves so much.

this doesn't happen when the wheel is straight or turned to the left.

any ideas why this is happening?

I don't think you should be using the front brake lever when you are turning your handlebars anyway.

Double check your cables and your lever adjustment. Make sure that he cables are routed properly as well.

I loosened the caliper mounting bolts and the problem goes away. But when I re-tighten them, the problem comes back. I'll take off the caliper and inspect the pads tomorrow.

Problem solved. Front axle nut wasn't fully tightened

The caliper movement I noticed was due to the wheel/rotor moving.

Glad I checked this before riding

As my Grandpa used to say "A man should always check his nuts before leaving home "

Lol

but seriously its good that you found that and should be a reminder to all of us to walk around and visually check our bikes and put a spanner on to check things even on a brand new bike.

most dealerships give the PDI to the apprentice to do and often things get missed
