THE two retro concepts shown by Husqvarna at the Milan show in November are to become production models, the firm’s MD has confirmed.

The 401 Vitpilen and 401 Svartpilen – both using the frame and engine from KTM’s RC390 and Duke 390 – will form of the basis of new models to go on sale in 2017, according to Reinhold Zens, one of Husqvarna’s two MDs.

The Vitpilen, Swedish for ‘white arrow’ is a modern take on a café racer while the Svartpilen, or ‘black arrow’ has scrambler styling with knobbly tyres.

‘I can tell you that they will come as 2017 models,’ Zens told Swedish magazine Bike. ‘They may not look the same, a concept is after all a designer’s dream while a finished model must follow rules and regulation, but they will definitely have the same style.’

Husqvarna has been owned by KTM since 2013.

The Vitpilen and Svartpilen's specs should be similar to Duke 390’s, with 43.5hp and 25.8lbft from the 375cc single-cylinder engine.
