I was lightly scolded by a motocop yesterday (after high siding...) for wearing my Icon Superduty 4 boots. He said to get a full boot (like an A* SMX-5 style) and was surprised I didn't hurt my ankle at all. So I will be upgrading soon. I recommend a full boot to anybody but I will say my Superduty 4s are quite comfortable to walk around in and I do really like them.

Steel toed boots. Me entire body may be destroyed, maimed, and dismembered, but my toes will be fine

Seriously now, i just need to find some good boots. and then find someplace that has Bell helmets so i can actually try it on

most if not of my riding is going to be straight up commuting and just joy riding in the suburb so i dont know if i should buy full blown boots or not

looks pretty 'eh' to me. This is your safety you're talking about - no restart button, no new feet. You can do better for yourself.

of those 2 I would go with the Icon because they look like they go higher and will give you more ankle protection and they have the steel plates. But again I stress you should go full boot. At some point someone posted on this board a picture of someone who crashed while waiting a boot like the Icon you posted (which is quite similar to mine)

Not enough ankle coverage = 2 bones sticking out of that riders leg.

what would you consider full boot?

something like this
http://www.motorcycle-superstore.com...T.ac=SLIsearch

are these too short?

Sidi B-2 full boots for most of my riding, or at minimum some reinforced Bates waterproof boots (full ankle, 8" heel to top) if I'm commuting

Joe Rocket Sonic boots.

Once they are broken in, they are pretty comfortable. They are rather warm though. They are also waterproof, and the sides dont have anything that gets caught on the bike. The inside also has soft suede, so it doesnt mar up your bike.

These are what I wear right now. Very comfortable, but the protection is pretty minimal, just above wearing sneakers in my opinion. I've been lookin at the Cortech Latigos or Sidi Fusion Air.

Amazing boots -- they last forever (well, ok, 80k miles+ per pair) and have a built-in rise in the sole. I'm a towering 5'3" when I wear mine!

BiLT Trackstar boots; have held up fine so far after 4+ months and a low-side. Definitely won't last for years but should last a little while.

When I'm headed to college or somewhere I'll be for a long while, I wear my regular sneakers (usually Nike Air Force Ones).
When I know my ride will be longer, I'll wear my Alpine Star ankle high boots. They look like Nike Air Force Ones!

Here they are in action

Most of the time when I am riding the ninjette, I am commuting to work and I'm wearing my steel toes. When I hit the canyons, I ride the supermoto and will sometimes wear my Gaerne supermoto boots or my Hitech magnums (walking in the supermoto boots suuuucks). For the track, I have a pair of TCX SS Sports.

Sidi seems to be popular in this thread at least.. they look really good but damn they're expensive. id like to get full 'boots' but i'm trying hard not to spend more than $125ish.

im coming up with a montage of gear to buy and the total cost is coming up to $300 so far. This does not include boots or a helmet (i'm mindset on buying a Bell Vortex which will be another $180). I already have gloves.

I wear the Icon Bombshell Boots. Nothing else has really appealed to me, but I'm always on the lookout for something new. The Icon boots have a wedge heel, which helps me reach the ground. I'm 5'2". A lot of ppl don't realize they are boots for riding a motorcycle. They think that my boots are regular fashion boots.

That's why I love the Daytona Ladystars; they look like normal motorcycle boots but have over an inch of rise built in. I'm 5'1" in my bare feet so I feel your pain!

Does the Icon have decent armor?

Here are my sidi st airs I got the last pair in my size in the white/black color scheme. I am in love with them as well, expensive as they may have been. I wear them every time, no matter where I go. They are so quick to put on and take off and flow mad amounts of air

I understand the whole budget thing tho. My first pair of boots were Tourmaster SC Road boots. They weren't a full boot, but they have a fair amount of ankle protection. There is a hard piece that fits roughly over the ankle bone and they seemed to be pretty rugged. Downsides is they flow zero air and get smelly quick.

Here they are

http://www.motorcycle-superstore.com...oad-Boots.aspx

another tourmaster option, more protection, same cost

Have you looked at cortech? They seem to have some nice lookin road boots that fall into your price range. They are a full boot and have a lot more protection for a great price! Seem to have gotten some next to stellar reviews as well.

Looks like from the reviews posted, you get what you pay for. Still, WAY better than gym shoes. I think someone may have done a quick review in another thread. I have the Dainese TRQ Race Air Out boots. Was set on a $225 pair, tried the Dainese in the store and bought 'em. The extra ankle protection was worth it.

Those Cortech Latigos look nice and are probably as close to my price range as I can get for a full size boot.

The problem is that I don't know where I'd go to try them on.

edit: they do have the Latigos at a local dealer, nvm. they're about $15 cheaper online too.

but the other thing is that i should want to try my boots AND pants on at the same time, right? or does it not matter that much?

I watched the video and it says size 43 US? Isn't it supposed to be 7-14?
