Eric,
can you be more detailed as to when the bike is slipping out of gear?? are you shifting... accelerating... sitting at a stop??? stretched clutch cable won't be the cause of this. if you think so, is your clutch cable free play adjusted to spec? |

the first few times i noticed it i was shifting to second and it fell back into neutral, then when i was slowing down i shifted into first and when i looked down at a glance it had gone back to neutral.

could it be attributed to rider error? perhaps adjusting the shifter higher or lower might help to complete clean shifts?

Yep, try adjusting the shifter just a bit lower so you pull that lever up fully and completely. I haven't had that issue since I adjusted mine farther down.

yeah it could be i just got the bike, but the handle is loose and adjusted out about as far as it can be thats why i was thinking it might be stretched

I have this problem often, unfortunately. It would pop outta gear into neutral between gears all the way to 4th. If you clutch slightly between all those gears, it helps a ton, but it still occasionally happens. The best and only fixes I've found are adjust the shift lever lower, make sure your clutch cable is good, clutch slightly on upshifts, run synthetic oil (helps a lot), and just mash the lever up hard haha.

the only times ive had the bike slip out of gear, has been due to me trying to ride with my workboots on & not being used to how much pressure to apply to the shifter... Yeah, I wen't back to my puma's pretty quickly
