One mesh jacket (2), one pair of full leather gauntlets (3), one full face helmet (3), 2 visors (I'm a noob - what would you need more than two for? Clear and tinted, what else?), one pair of shin guards (1) (my weight is all over the place right now so I don't have proper pants yet but once it settles I sure will), one pair of boots (2) = 11. Barely not a squid, whew!

I'm rapidly starting to think I'm going to need a new jacket for the evenings though... mesh is great for SoCal most of the time but these desert nights get chilly fast.

Do I get any points for the fact that it's all hi-vis? And all neon green? :P (I have a reflective "STUDENT" sign on my backpack too.)

It's gotta be worth something I'd put it in the same category as strap-on back/chest armor.

43. But I think I should get a few extra for my Hit-Air vest and upgrading *all* my armor to D3O, and the CE 2 versions wherever they'll fit.

Also, there should be a point for each jacket/suit that has a medical form permanently stashed in it.

I made it to whore, but I would have been connoisseur if wasn't so old that I have gear from 35 years ago that's nearly worn out, but still hanging on the gear bar.

I guess I'm just a beginner with 50+ years of riding experience. I only scored a 10. Jesus, I guess I'm lucky to be alive.

Since you have all this money for what might be considered silly costumes, why can't you spring $50.00 for a Kawasaki Service Manual? Inquiring minds want to know.

Whore? Maybe a gentleman of ill repute.

The service manual and the user manual comes with the bike I purchased. Unlucky me since I did not use my money on those manuals rather than wasting it to buy riding protection for myself, eh?

No, I don't think you wasted your money purchasing protective clothing. You see I'm 69 years old and I'm sure you are much younger than I. After seeing your post a few times I just got curious about the priorities of "new gen" riders vs. "old gen" riders like myself. I wear James Dean/Steve McQueen type riding attire. Call me reckless but I choose to travel light. My total investment in protective riding gear is:

2006 - New Bell full face helmet - $85.00
2006 - 3 large bandanas for cold weather face protection - $ 3.95
2014 - Gauntlet insulated cold weather riding gloves - $40.00
2017 - Used garage sale full face Bell helmet - $ 2.00
Total - $130.95

I'm very glad you have service manuals also. A service manual is just as important as a set of good tires to me.

I was just doing a personal behavioral science study. By the way, Michigan just repealed their helmet law. 99.9% of the time I wear a helmet because June bugs and large bumble bees bouncing off my face at 60 M.P.H. hurt like hell.

Ride on and thanks.

Bill

Not everybody is as experienced as you Bill and not everybody has the luxury of buying the apparels often. I am from Malaysia and currently residing in Malaysia, where the tax for motorcycle related stuffs is really expensive due to the currency conversion rate and the tax imposed by our government. Motorcycle import tax alone is 100%; which means if you get a Honda CBR for about US$3,000 (for example) here in the United States of America, I am getting it for about US$6000 in Malaysia.

Fyi, the current apparels I bought were after 8 years of owning my first Kawasaki ER-6n, such as the Rev-It! Leather jacket and pants, which I paid using my credit card and still paying for it (under the monthly flexi payment plan) even if it has been over a year... My items listing so far were as below:

1) Custom Made Fieldsheer jackets - purchased EXACTLY 8 years ago.
2) Delta tactical boot - I HAD to buy it since I COULDN'T AFFORD A DECENT MOTORCYCLE BOOT.
3) Fieldsheer short glove - I bought it along with the custom made Fieldsheer jackets as a gift to my brother, but since he couldn't care less using it, so I used it anyway.
4) Vemar Jiano Bluetooth Helmet - The ONLY HELMET I BOUGHT ONLINE THROUGH EBAY. THE SELLER HIMSELF HAS STOPPED SELLING. THIS WAS ALSO 8 YEARS AGO. Bought using cash, wire transferred to England, which I saved a portion from my monthly salary before browsing ebay to buy it.
5) Nolan Modular Helmet - Bought it using my credit card. strive by getting part time job so that I could afford on monthly food. Thanks to this, i could pay off the credit card company on time.
6) Forma Majestic Touring Boot - I bought this using the bonus my company rewarded me. The result was that I was not around during the festive holidays with my family just to cover back my expenses for this purchase.

The list goes on and I would not want to bore you on the reasons I made to these purchases and not spending a US$50 for a service manual.

It doesn't matter whether you are 69 years old biker or 36 years old too-much-spending youngster (according to you - i rephrased), if you crash with no proper apparels on, it's going to hurt.

And calling me an "ill repute" is just plain rude for a 69 year-old "experienced" biker like yourself.

You being a Malaysian may not understand. Reference to a whore house here is the U.S. is not considered polite. More gentile people refer to a whore house as a house of ill repute. Hence, you are a gentleman of ill repute not a gentleman whore. It was a pathetic attempt at being humorous. OK, OK so you're a freakin' whore already!!

A 100% import duty? I guess there aren't many Harley Davidsons in Malaysia. A full blown Harley Electra Glide Classic would cost you $48,298.00.

If I crash I want to be buried not rehabilitated.

Aaahh.. now i get it. I am not offended when referred to as a whore simply because... I am a guy? hahahahahahahahahahahaha.

We do have some models of the Electra Glide here. For example, a 2013 Electra Glide Pre-Owned is priced at US$36710.82. Here's the link : http://www.mudah.my/Harley+Davidson+...3-33675774.htm

I finally get it. You are a racer. That explains your attention to detail when it comes to protective clothing.

Your quote "Be good to others so that they would be good to us too" is very similar to a concept promoted by the French Political Scientist, Alexis de Tocqueville, "self interest rightly understood".

Bill, you're saying you don't ride with a leather jacket with armor, and some sort of good armored pants? I'm a little surprised.

I have a leather jacket. It's ventilated. I hardly ever wear it. I removed all the foam padding - I couldn't move in it if I didn't. I actually went to the corner store (1/2 mile) last night in a "T" shirt, no helmet and wearing moccasins. But that's the only ride I take without a helmet. Oh, I was wearing socks too.
