Hello from the frigid north

The frigid north being Minnesota, where it's actually quite pleasant.

Just picked up my "first" bike, an '07 250r a few days ago and it's been quite an adventure so far. The forums and FAQs about this bike make life very, very easy, so thanks already for the help you've already provided!

Hello Ian, it's good to meet you. Is it on the road yet? It looks pretty nice in the photo.

Yeah, the guy before me had the carb fully rebuilt, but they didn't tighten down the main jet so it was flooding and unhappy under 7k RPM. Fixed that and did a valve adjustment and it runs great! I've put maybe a hundred miles on it so far and I'm slowly becoming less terrified.

Naw, winter's even better! It's the only time I can drive sideways without getting ticketed for it. ;]

Welcome!

Lots of good resources around here. I strongly recommend the basic MSF course, and after that, Zalusky Advanced Riding School. The track at Dakota Tech is made for the ninjette: short and twisty. Even if you're not into that sort of thing, you'll learn a lot about vision, braking, and cornering. Enjoy your ride!
