Trouble starting
So i took my 09 ninja out of storage to start and ran into a little trouble. Put the battery in and went to start it. First attempt turned over but didnt start. As i went to push the starter button a second time, i heard a click from behind the seat and all the dash lights went off and nothing happened. After about 5 seconds all the lights came back but as soon as i hit the starter the same thing happens. Any ideas as to what it could be or what to check? I did look at all the fuses and none looked burned out.

Battery is bad/dead, charge it or get new one.

Battery sounds like the problem, but if you didn't add stabilizer to the gas and/or drain the carbs before storing that may not be the end of it.
Hopefully you did. |

Thanks. I will be checking the battery tonight. There was gas stabelizer in her so i should be fine on that front. The battery tested at 12.61v when not hooked up but i didnt get a chance to test it while in the bike

The real test though is the voltage during cranking (under load). That should be over 10V and closer to 11. Chances are it will drop way off during cranking. Most likely you will need a new battery, Charge it for a few hours at an appropriate rate before installing. |

A sudden failure of power may mean a loose and/or corroded battery connection.
