New EX250F7F owner
Hello Everyone,
I just bought a 2007 Ninja 250 and after putting a few hundred miles on it, I'll be searching for some general information. I really hope to be able to contribute once I get into serious maintenance on my bike. It has 7200 orig miles on it and it appears to have never had any scheduled maintenance accomplished on it beyond oil changes and air filters. So early on i'll be data mining past posts on carb cleaning, setting valves, etc. I bought the bike as a starter/commuter for myself, but I plan to hand it off to my 17 year old son once he gets his motorcycle endorsement, also for use as a starter/commuter. I would like to say that I love this little bike, I paid $1800 for it, which I feel was a fair price based on the market here in the San Antonio area. My wife, who is a bit of a motorcycle snob (because "she rode GSXR liter bikes back in the day"), even found herself pleasantly enjoying the bike while I was at work. I find most people who want to detract from the bike either have never ridden one or expect it to be something it's not. Thanks ~Bobby |

Hi Bobby, it's good to meet you.
Yes, the name "Ninja" doesn't convey "excellent motorcycle to own" to a lot of people. I've hard phrases like "Is that one of those Ninja bikes?", and you can tell the person saying it is being dismissive. If I were never allowed to own any motorcycle other than my 2005 Ninja 250 for the rest of my life, I'd still be perfectly happy riding. |

Welcome, and it's a great bike, that was made unchanged for 19 years. Parts are common and cheap, and maintenance is simple, and easy compared to other bikes.
The best bang for your bucks is upgrading your suspension, which is easily done, and cheap as well. And on my standard greeting, Welcome, here are just a few things to think about, 1.Get trained and licensed MSF Courses 2.ALWAYS Wear protective gear -- ATGATT All The Gear, All The Time -- including a helmet manufactured to the standards set by a government agency. 3.ALWAYS Ride unimpaired by alcohol or other drugs 4.ALWAYS Ride within your own skill limits and road conditions. 5.Be a lifelong learner by taking refresher rider courses, and advanced rider course A.R.C. https://www.ninjette.org/forums/showthread.php?t=218237 https://www.ninjette.org/forums/show...8&postcount=26 A.T.G.A.T.T. so I may ride another day.

Welcome!
I agree, anybody disparaging these bikes wants them to be something else or has never ridden one. I think ego gets in the way for a lot of people- bigger bikes exist, therefore they must have it and anything "less" must be sad. |
