I have a leak from a coolant hose. Can anyone tell me how to replace the hose?

I feel stupid asking, but I'm not the most mechanically inclined person. Here's an image of the specific coolant hose. It's on the left side of the bike, and I believe it's attached to the head.
I've already ordered the hose through a local dealership, and a mechanic told me he'd charge me $60 to replace the hose, which isn't a bad price, but I'd like to save money where possible.

You can see that the previous owner puttied up the hose. He didn't tell me about the leak. I discovered it the day after buying the bike.

TL;DR: Has anyone replaced this hose before?

Sorry I'm not any help with Newgen stuff, but I have to compliment you on the teal deer summary.

A better picture may help. Maybe one with the left fairing off

Edit: I went outside and took my left fairing off and it seems that the pipe you are talking about is connected to the water pump and to a rubber hose above the starter. You should be able to drain the coolant through the water pump by removing a bolt (can't for the life of me remember which one) and after the coolant is drained it looks as if the portion of the hose connected to the water pump is held on with 2 bolts (they may have o rings for them idk) and then the upper portion is just fitted into the rubber hose above the starter and secured with a hose clamp. Hope this helps!

Edit to my edit: dont feel stupid asking!. I used to never be mechanically inclined but I had to start somewhere. Now I do all my own work and have saved myself and others hundreds if not thousands of dollars in labor cost.

Thanks, @Lazarus. I'll check it out later today and see if it's something I want to try myself or just let the mechanic do it.

This is only slightly more complicated than changing a light bulb.

If you have WAY too much time on your hands, here's an excruciatingly detailed video on flushing your coolant. I mean, an HOUR AND FORTY FIVE MINUTES of detail. That's not because it's complicated, it's because this guy covers every tiny detail.

Link to original page on YouTube.

Short answer:

- Make sure you have the proper tools and have basic knowledge of how to use them (i.e. an understanding of bolt torque, etc.). If you lack this, educate yourself rather than paying someone to do the job. The knowledge will save you thousands of dollars over time. I highly recommend getting your hands on a FACTORY service manual, either by buying one (worth every penny) or finding a PDF online.

- You'll need to drain the coolant and replace it. That's covered in the video, and you'll find plenty of other, shorter videos online if you look for them.

- With the coolant drained, remove the hose. That means removing a couple of clamps and yanking it out.

- Install the new hose. That entails putting the clamps on the new hose, slipping the ends over the fittings, and getting the clamps into position.

- Refill coolant and bleed air.

- Clean up, dispose of old coolant properly, go have a refreshing beverage and pat yourself on the back. Be careful not to pull a muscle in the process.

This. I remember this when doing the valve job- I removed the bottom part of that hose to keep the engine mount bolt from pushing into it.

This will be an easy job for you.

The diagrams at https://www.kawasaki.com/Parts may help you get a better idea of how everything fits together too.

I did it on Monday, for what it's worth. It was an easy fix. I even did a coolant flush following the video @adouglas shared.
Thanks for the help, gents.
