what's it worth?

so were looking around for my new bike that my bff is gonna help me buy.

also i'll be adding more deals i find to get opinions.. i dont want to just jump on the very first bike..

09 ninja 250r $2100 3k miles never dropped adult owned.

03 katana 600 $1600 25k miles never dropped female ridden.

1990 Honda CBR1000 Mint condition, $1600 38k miles. Original owner fully restored 16k ago. was also one of the higher ups for the D.A.R.E organization. has all paper work on it. owner says there's only 2 issuses, running lights relay needs replaced, rear brakes will need maintenance in the next 2-4 weeks. seems very open and is only selling due to home repairs needing to get done.
( This is a serious consideration, not because of size but because of condition and history, i ride to tour not race and this would be a pretty nice daily i think, but the 560lbs weight doesnt bother me but concerns me. the most weight i've held up was about 450-475.. that was about a year ago on my 3rd bike. )

deal or no deal?

Sounds like a "too good to be true" price.

Unless things are far far different in your area, a new gen for under 3k is pretty rare and usually has some fairing damage of sorts if it's under 3k.

I personally listed my 08 for 3600 and got a TON of calls on the bike. Noone offered me what I wanted, so I decided not to sell, but at 36600 on an 08 there was plenty of lookers.

I will say though, IF that price is true and not a typo or something seriously wrong with the bike, then chances are the bike is already gone.

Better go look at at with someone you trust who knows bikes, before it's gone or he changes his mind and figures out the price is too low.

Gluck man. Even if the fairing are scratched to hell, if it runs good, it's a steal.

That sounds like a very good deal. As long as their are only minor scratches in it those can be easily buffed out.

The prices of the older models are coming down...at least around here. I can buy a brand new 09 for $3600 + tax no setup fee. I would never pay over $3000 for a used one if I can buy new for a few hundred more. But I have to say I see them on Craigs list for up to $4000 all the time. But those usually have an aftermarket exhaust on them. So I would say go look at it. For me to buy a used one it would have to be between $2000-$2500. Anything more than that and I would opt to pay the extra money for a new one. Just can't see paying almost new prices for anything used.

Don't forget to consider the cost of plates, title, and insurance. That was an addition $300 I hadn't planned on when I bought my 08 used...then again, I did rob the kid blind, so it all worked out.

sadly enough theres not many kawasaki's around here forsale.. i had found a 00' zx6r but it was $500 out my price range and price is firm..

i happened upon a 03' suzuki katana 600 with 25k never dropped never molested, female ridden for $1.6k this is the current deal im set on but stupid closed banks have me stalled until monday..

deal or no deal?

deep in my heart and mind i only want a kawasaki zx6r (or any kawasaki thats not a pre-gen(no offense ppls!) but since i cant travel more than 200 miles to find one then thats my only option

Like some have said....its almost too good to be true. Go look at it, ride it then bargain with him. But $2100 for a 09, I would be more than happy to pay that price.

I dint know your financing but be prepared if you go to a 600cc or higher, expect for a huge insurance hike.

i would be too if i had that much.. my top limit is $1800.. thats the very max.. unless i wait another month then i could have double but i cant sit in this house for that long.. lol

as for the ins rate.. no.. i've checked from cbr600's to zx6r's and so forth..

my 6 month term is only $70.. never changes.

250 - guy really wants to get rid of it or somethings wrong with it

The Katana - female ridden doesn't mean diddley

Honda Liter is pretty long in the tooth plus as soon as you get it you'll be spending some nickles on it

If those are your only choices I'd go with the Kat.

You've got to check the age of the tires on the Kat and Honda or you'll be looking at another few hundred dollars to replace them.
IMHO there is no such thing as a "mint condition" 20 year old bike or anything else, unless it has a new engine, tires, brakes, clutch, battery, sprockets, chain, bulbs, and a paint job.And the older the bike gets, sometimes replacement parts get harder to find and more expensive. In any event, a knowledgeable mechanic has to check it out first.

Have you looked it over and taken it for a ride yet?
And he has the title to sign over to you?
That sounds like an awfully low price but if the bike looks good, go for it. Just be careful the first few times out 'till you get used to the extra power and weight. It's a good jump from the 250 to the 650. Have fun and be safe.
