Smile Hello from Western Australia!

Hi everyone, I'm Neil, living in the mid west, about four hours drive north of Perth, Western Australia.

I have recently bought a 2007 Ninja 250 (last of the carb models) for my wife and am looking to convert into a café racer. I have never done a project like this before so I hope some of you guys will be able to help me along the way with your expert advice.

Cheers
Neil

My 2008 Ninja 250 has carbs. Not sure, but I think the 300cc bikes were the first with FI. Welcome to the forum.

Here's best café conversion I've seen yet to give you some ideas.
https://www.ninjette.org/forums/showthread.php?t=117957

Personally i would chop off lower subframe and weld it up more vertical closer towards front so seat is more cantilevered over rear tyre.

Wink

Thank you guys for the warm welcome and your suggestions. I have just bought a KZ 650 tank (mint condition inside, and pretty good outside too) from Wisconsin, so I hope this will solve my tank issue.

I'll start adding pics as the project takes shape - currently in pieces and awaiting my powder coating place to re-pen after Xmas - wheels, swing arm and a few other pieces will be matt black; I will be spraying tank metallic purple with retro Kawasaki badging. See image. Slightly anxious as this is my first bike rebuild project. Wish me luck and watch this space!
