Gas Tank - Suggestions

Good Morning Everyone - so I've been slowly and I mean slowly building my style of bike out of a 1996 ninja 250. I've come to the point that the original tank will not work for what I want.

I am curious if anyone has used another tank from a donor bike or another style of tank? If anyone has information and photos it would be greatly appreciated.

I am willing to mod the mounts and frame if needed but would prefer a straight swap which is know is slim to none.

Thanks for any help and input!

I'm currently working on mounting a new-gen tank on pre-gen bike. Looks like I'll relocate petcock port so petcock doesn't bump into frame. Some people have cut out parts off the frame, but I think that's little extreme and may result in detrimental flex.

I'll just cut out the petcock port, cut out another oval in new location, braze closed original hole with piece from new hole. Then braze original petcock port into new location.

I had to check, but looks like a KZ650 tank holds 3.7 gallons, which is 1.1 gallons less than a stock tank.
