Shogun S5 Frame Slider Bolts

I crashed and destroyed my frame slider cap as well as the bolts that hold it in. How do I find out what the specifications are of the bolt so I can find replacements?

They're the 5 bolts that hold the cap in place on the end of the frame slider.

Thanks

Remove one of you upper bodywork bolts that require a 4mm Allen wench and on of you lower body work bolts that require a 5mm Allen wrench. If the smaller one breads in then you need M5x0.8 bolts if the larger one threads in you need M6x1.0 bolts. Both are quite common and you should have any trouble finding them.

I bought some M5 0.8 bolts but the head is too big to fit into the frame slider cap. Where can I get that specific type of bolt? The standard M5 0.8 threads in fine but the cap is too big.

Just grind away a little material from the OD of the heads and they'll fit right in. Some heads are smooth and some have this tiny knurling to make it easier to grip by hand. The smooth ones are slightly smaller then the knurled so you just need to grid of the knurling.

You did get the same style heads and some other button or countersink style heads right?

Grinding the head will reveal the silver coloured aluminum underneath. I found the bolts I needed on amazon at 6 dollars for 5 with 40 dollars shipping lol. What a rip off. I can't find the specific bolts on any bolt distributor online anywhere.

That's not an aluminum bolt on the left from what I can see but it does have your standard black oxidized finish to prevent rust. When I suggested the sizing to you I assumed you'd find some stainless steel bolts. SS bolts have no coating so the finish does change when you grind them. Do you have any way to accurately measure the head of the old bolt, if so ill look through my supply catalog and see what I can find.

Have you tried asking the manufacturer if they could supply you with replacement bolts?

here's the spec page or the head and thread dimensions http://www.mcmaster.com/#91251aac/=ljyogl

try the page http://www.mcmaster.com/ and in the find box in the upper left enter 91292A126 that should take you to the stainless steel version of what your looking for. What you bought looks like it uses a 5mm allen instead of a 4mm. The M5x0.8 bolts under this page use a 4mm allen so it should be very close if to a correct match. But take note that they will be a silver color and chance are if they're knurled you'll need to sand or grind that off to get them to fit.

plus for $7 you get 100 bolts so you can open shop and start selling them yourself

Thanks I'll take a look. The bolts I bought do use the same size key as the originals, the head is just too big.

Where does it say on that site whether it's fully threaded or partially threaded?
