Gearing setup

I am getting ready to purchase a new sprocket set up. I already ordered a 15T front sprocket but I am unsure about the rear sprocket. I don't want to loose alot of acceleration but also would like better fuel economy and useable first gear. Top speed is not really an issue but highway speeds (65-70mph) I would rather not have to be reved so high. I was thinking a 42T rear but I know the 41T rear is the most common set up. Please help since I am about to order.

I say go 42t. The difference is not really felt all that in 6th much but I can feel a better pull in 3 and 4th on the track. Maybe it's just in my head though. lol

from what i have researched stock is 14 front 45 rear. Now what would be the difference if i just went 15 front and kept the 45 rear. What would happen if i decreased the rear like what you did? more acceleration? lower top speed? etc?

just found this:

http://www.amazon.com/2008-2012-Kawa...6+o+ring+chain

Good buy if im fine with how my bike performs? (which i am)

Just changing to a 15 tooth front sprocket will get you an avg 3 mph increase in the low to mid rpm range and 6 mph on the top end. First gear becomes a lot more usable, you won't have to shift as fast. It will ride like you gained some power, but you haven't.

Adding a 42 tooth will add about 11 mph on the top end. Your speed will be 60 mph @ 6500 rpms. The trade off will be, you'll have to turn the throttle a little further than you normally do now. Shimming and de-snorkling will wake the bike up nicely with this combo.

As far as that chain sprocket combo, I think a few have said the chain sucks.
Search the site for Volar.

**** that is the same chain I bought. I have not even opened the box yet so I hope I can return it and get a better chain or use the stock chain since it is still in good order.

They are going to allow me to return the chain so I will be purchasing a D.I.D chain. Will this chain work for my bike:

I also think I need to get a rivet link so that is this:

I am going to see if the clip link can be swapped out for the rivet link.

If you can't swap the chain for the rivet type, then just buy a rivet master link. It's a good idea to have a spare laying around the garage anyway.
