Is it possible to install flush mounts without drilling into the fairings?

Again... it's because I don't have many tools to access and don't feel like paying the dealer/mechanic $90/hour for the job.

All the YT vids I've seen require drilling... hmmm.

Yes it is possible, I did this on my ninja and love the results! I used the proton signals, however there are other no cut signals available.

i ordered some bikemaster universal flushmounts and love the look of them. the tape that comes with them sux tho but some 3m permanent outdoors tape has held them on thro multiple washes driving thro rain and high speeds. one thing to keep in mind tho that depending on wattage of the bulbs in the flush mounts u get or if they are led you may need a new flasher relay to make them blink at appropriate speed, very easy task tho and lots threads here on how to do it.

I've got the protons as well. I love the way they look and they are very bright. Pretty easy to install.

I can attest to these and they look good on the newgens. The 3m tape even held on after akcalhoun dropped his bike Sunday.

Do the protons require wiring a relay or anything or do they just wire up directly to the stock harness?

Yes, I believe they need a replacement flasher relay that can handle LEDs (not a thermal relay like the stock one). Even if they had some kind of internal flasher unit, your rear turn signals don't. The only way they could work with the original relay is if they simulated the same load as the bulbs did and they would need to generate heat to do that (load resistors).

Not really. They have internal resistors which allow the stock relay to work as well as the rear stock blinkers. That's the nice thing about them.

Also just curious, did it come in two pieces like that or did you have to modify it?

You can also use tape from M3... i got 2 rolls of the same that GoPro uses on their "mount pads". Used mine for 1 year now, in 15.000km in rain... they just stick harder and harder the more they sit :P
