Worth to repair?
Hi all, I'm hitting up all the Ninja 250 forums for some help with my crashed 250.
Long story short, here's the list of damage to my bike: 1. Misaligned forks/bent fender support (as you can see from sidemarkers) http://i.imgur.com/mmDLJBq.jpg http://i.imgur.com/V96PdcK.jpg 2. Passenger seat frame bent/seat lock bent and keyhole seems misaligned http://i.imgur.com/W5FuoGv.jpg http://i.imgur.com/oLaj200.jpg http://i.imgur.com/MtAjZEB.jpg 3. Front seat plastic screw hole sheared, does not line back up (unsure if seat warped or if frame bent) 4. Most of my fairings, turn signals, tail light assembly, mirrors #2 and #3 worry me the most because it leads me to believe my frame may have been bent. What are your thoughts and what can I DIY to fix some of these? Thanks! |

Nice thing about steel is it can be cold-set. Find qualified shop that can bend frames and has jigs to check alignment.

you need the swing arm pivot 90 deg to the head stock, every thing else is just a bonus. |

Thanks for the help guys. Best case scenario, I bend back the passenger seat frame and it fits. What I don't want is for costs to rack up quickly since I did not pay very much for the bike to begin with.
Unfortunately, buying a new frame is out of the question given the cost. If the frame really is bent from the tail all the way to the front seat, there's no real way for me to bend it back is there? Is there a DIY way to check if my frame is still straight? |

You have to be creative, and use strings and squares and levels, etc.. I straightened my DT100 frame this spring by making a fixture to bolt the head tube to a beam in my shop, getting it vertical with a level, and bending the frame until the swing arm pivot was horizontal. Things fell into place pretty well after that. I left the engine in for that, because I knew if I took it out and bent the frame, it would be likely that the engine would no longer fit.
