carburetor diaphragms were to buy?

Hello guys, I hope and it is not considered as poor post, but I need 2 diaphragms for the carburetors, because when they were opened they were incomplete and we saw that that was the problem with the explosions, someone knows what the diaphragms are, or if could share a publication on ebay where they sell to buy them, I also found diaphragms of china, but I do not know, I hope and can help me Thanks!

You can get OEM ones from parts suppliers such as http://www.bikebandit.com. Unfortunately, they quite expensive, might be able to find cheaper ones on eBay, but I kinda doubt it's a part that you would find used much. I'm not sure you'd want used ones anyway.

Try checking with @ducatiman, seems to me he said at one time he had or could get them, but they are difficult to change.

to say the least. To be clear...the Kawasaki OEM $165 are complete slide/diaphragm assemblies. They do not sell bare diaphragms...no part #, not a "serviced" part.

Ebay sellers do offer aftermarket diaphragm rubbers only, but read on.

@Darksik...before buying any bare ebay version diaphragms, I'd get the seller to provide specific instructions, see if you or your mechanic want to dive in. Note some sellers are providing an open warning as to difficulty involved....thus covering themselves. I'm sure they've had numerous buyer failure difficulties, complaints, returns and refunds.

There are a couple versions out there...all require the circular plastic disc (top of the slide) to be removed. Some reuse it..some discard. Very fine, tricky work, requiring no peripheral damage to other sections (beneath) on the upper slide assembly. In either case, reusing disc or not...adhesive is used.

Note the diaphragms can NOT simply be removed and replaced via "stretching".

The top cap MUST be removed, requiring modification to the mount section below...while avoiding further damage, hence the difficulty.

I soaked the slides with the old diaphrams in hot water first to loosen them up, and just stretched them off. Then I soaked the new ones in warm water for a few minutes and very gently stretched them on. After getting them on and in the slot, I kept warming them up in the warm water and made sure they were seated completely in the slide. Voila, no more problems and SIGNIFIGANTLY cheaper than buying new slides

Yessir! Just be VERY careful how you manhandle them on as they're thin and I'm assuming pretty easy to warp. I had another set of hands helping hold the slide and manipulated it as close to the slide as possible where the rubber that slots in is a little thicker.

So many "That's what she said" comments in there...

So ah... what kind of "hot water" temps are we talking about? 150F? 180F?

I made some wooden covers that fit over the slides and allows me to clamp them in vice so I may be able to this by myself.

Yeah, that's what she said when I asked for 2nd set of hands!!!

You're a better man than i.....

working alone on already torn diaphragms....I've consistently shredded them upon removal in attempts to stretch them over the large top retainer. Of course, damage upon removing no matter.

So I must question....on installation how did you stretch the center OVER the top retainer? Requiring stretching the center opening easily 3x maybe 4X its size, if not more?

Pics or it......

I don't think you have to stretch opening to fit over slide all at once...

1. Warm up diaphram in hot water

2. Stretch it sideways so opening is a long slot

3. Slip into slide's retainer's slit

4. Continue to stretch & slide in and over, it should be easier once you get pass 50%, widest middle part.

I didn't take pictures while I was doing it, but I should of. But I definitely didnt have to stretch them 4x larger. Lemme see what I can find picturewise.

As far as water temp, I didnt measure that either lol

Lemme see if I can get photos...

The ebay seller said to remove retainer-cap and re-glue back on. Not sure how that can be done non-destructively. Might be different model carb.

Yeah, I can't find any pictures. But like I said, working carefully and soaking them in warm water, I was able to install just the diagrams and it's running great now
