I have been riding about 7 months. I lost my little brother (n law) in a bike wreck in October, and I now drive his old bike in memory of him. I loved to ride before he passed away, but hadn't been on a bike for about 6 years. We talked about as soon as he got a new bike, I could have his old one and we could ride together, but when he got his new bike, he had a very bad accident and didn't make it. My husband starting riding after that too, but he is in Texas going to school for the next year, so I haven't really had anyone to ride with.

Sorry to hear it... Was it his experience with the new bike that got him in the accident or was it just coincidental? I'll pray for your fam!

My husband rides every day, every moment he can, especially to and from work. I only ride on the weekends, if I'm not too busy (like I was this month.) I had major back surgery 5 mos ago, and for the most part I'm okay, but I have my good days and bad days!

What was the surgery for? I literally broke my neck when I was 10, also broke 3 ribs and 1 of the ribs punctured a lung all at the same time... Sucks

WTH? What did you do at such a young age to have that kind of injuries??

I had a lumbar discectomy and a...foraminotomy??? LMAO I think that's the word. Okay I had back surgery in 2005 for 2 ruptured discs in my lumbar region and so this was another surgery for the same thing, just to clean it up, along with cleaning up the scar tissue, and they cut a little hole in my vertebrae again to relieve pressure on the nerve -- which still bugs me

Yeouch! I fell out of a tree and landed on a large root that broke my neck and broke the ribs, which punctured the lung. I fell about 2 stories. The original surgery was getting the air out of my back and chest and getting my neck stabilized then all the other fixes for years after. The Dr. told me I was lucky to be able to walk again and so when I was 16 just for spite I started Martial Arts, and have been fine since. Everyonce in a while I'll wake up with a week long crick in my neck but other then that I'm good! And after the $40,000 helicopter or Medivac ride to Children's Hospitol in Baltimore, I think my mom decided she hated me LOL And yes that is only one of my stories of self destructiveness as a child.. I have many more! LOL

It was just one bad decision. He was passing a car and there was something next to the curb. His tire nailed it. He was going pretty fast. He was just doing it because he was messing with the girls in front of him. He was a very experienced rider. We are all finally starting to cope with it a little better. Some of the family aren't happy that we ride still, but it's something that we love to do, and that Jake loved to do.

Charlies is one of my favorites on the Landing for a quick bite. It seems to be one of the places I must be wheel barrow-ed out of, but I highly recommend it!

One of my favorite spots to hit for quick good sandwiches is Panera Bread. I think my two minute commute from home is a contributor to that, though!

Hey guys,

I'm from St. Louis, Missouri. Actually new to Missouri and pretty much new to USA too. Attended school in Baltimore before I moved here.

Hope to run into you guys sometime. Or maybe organize a ninjette.org meetup in MO.

Welcome! I don't ride distances like that to St. Louis, but would be cool to do sometime!

I second Tylers question, does anybody know how long this route is? unfortunately things still are not going well for me at work Hoping to at least be heading home Friday, guess the new shock won't be on by the time the ride happens!

Aww, I can't believe I just ran across this thread. This weekend is one of the few I'm not free on a Saturday. I live up in Rolla, so hopefully I can get in on the next Missouri group ride nearby.

Hopefully we can make this more of a common thing but if not there is a bike rally over by st.Roberts in September hosted by the freedom of road riders that I'll be going to its more of a cruiser event but they welcome all bikes. Its the last thing me and my grandpa did before he died so I'm planning on going every year

Late to the party, but from one Missouri rider to another, welcome to the forum. Been to Branson many a time just never with my bike. I couldn't ride that far on mine, but wish I could, there's some great roads down there.

Where's the group at? And we're meeting at (as I understand) 3pm on saturday the 21st at Charlie's Subs on the Branson Landing. If you don't know where charlies is, then enter from the Bass Pro side, walk down a ways it'll be on your left. If i'm not mistaken it has a green awning. But that may have been taken with the tornado lol.

Tyler has it, just look for the green awning!

I may or may not be there, you will see Dayna and I together if I am. If I can't make it be safe and have a great ride! Ill have to meet up with a few of you myself every now and again to make up for it!
