Cracked fairing - is this a problem??

The right side-fairing of my 2005 ninjette has a 2" long crack....Is this something I need to be worried about? Is there anything I can do to prevent it from getting worse over the years?

We thought about clamping it and applying shoe-goo or something similar to the back, just to seal it, but it seems that won't work because of the tension.

Let me know if it would be helpful to see pictures, and I will upload some. The bike is new-to-me, and it's so beautiful otherwise, I really want to make sure I take the best care of it!! ^_^;

Thanks!
Lemon

A pic would be helpful yes.

Depending on where it's at, it's nothing to worry about. Many riders have ridden for a long time with cracked/broken fairings.

There are many ways to fix it but look up plastifix but that will require some painting. If the crack is in just the right spot, you can use some abs cement on the BACK side of the fairing to glue it back together. Try to get a bit inside the crack but do not go overboard with it.

I used some fiberglass tape and epoxy to fix a crack after some jack hole pushed my bike over when it was parked.

I took my fairings off and put clear epoxy on the outside and jb weld to the inside. Worked great. Now I don't have fairings and the next bike I get will get them taken off first thing.
