Turn Signals?

Hey everyone!

My left turn signal is broken, and I am in need of a new set. Anybody know where to get some that can just be plugged in and ready? I am not looking to doing major wiring and such. My N-250 was purchased used and had flush mounts installed. I found OEM ones on Amazon but they are $40 a piece and I cannot afford that at this time. Thanks!

If you're on a budget and want O.E.M. my first stop would be eBay.

OEM turn signals

I have a couple sets of OEM turn signals...one set from my '08 250r with only 400 miles...I removed them for installing smoked flush-mounts.
I'd sell for $20 plus shipping

Hi,

have you done any testing to see if its just the left turn-signal that's broken?

- does the rear turn-signal work?
- is there fuse blown?
- is wiring OK, power at left-turn signal bulb (wiring ok)?
- bulb burnt out?

Here is the skinny:

During the move to my newly purchased home, something broke the cover and bulb of the left turn signal (flush mount) . I have been unable to find the same set of turn signals so I have decided to go back to OEM since I dont know of any GOOD trusty flush mounts. I am unsure if the connectors are still OEM but I will include pictures on hopes somebody can relay that info to me. The right one works just fine.

Male piece

Not sure if it helps, but the male piece (the connector from the signal on the fairing) looks like this:

Ah, looks like OEM connectors are OK. So if light is busted and bulb broke, but wiring on inside is still OK, then yeah, replacing just the light is all you need.

Kinda annoying that they made a deep well into the fairing to mount the turn-signal. All that so they can use same light front & rear. Makes removing OEM light and using flush-mounts much more difficult.

Hello Making, I found that I had removed the connector ends from my OEM turn signals for use on my smoke flush mount blinkers...have you considered this? Way cleaner look! On Amazon for $6.99. :-)

Hey! How did you cover up that giant hole used for OEM turn-signals?

OEM turn signals

These come with a round disc base that I reformed into an oval to fit in the turn signal cavity...in my opinion, best bang for the buck and they look pretty fresh! ;-)

Actually, I have entertained the idea of buying a bunch of these and re-fabricating and selling to other ninjettes!

So there are no OEMs for sale?

Are the $6.99 bright enough?

Os the wiring to OEM connectors easy? (No exp with that)

I got a couple cheap LED smoke turn signals like that, to see what they looked like. I could hardly see them lit in sunshine, so I put them in the scrap bin.

Turn signals

My OEM units have the connectors cut off for my flush mount blinkers. The housings are like new if you still want them...I just prefer flush mount. I have dark smoke on mine and they are still visible. Also have sets of light smoke flush mounts

I've seen a number of aftermarket flush mounts on various bikes around town and not one, not a single one, was very visible. Could you see them lit? Sure, but they didn't stand out at all and were extremely easy to overlook.

I got some Traf-X LED signals for my bike (they're not flush mounts) and boy are they intense. Nobody's going to miss those suckers burning a hole in their retina.

Ride like you're invisible, but don't actively try to make yourself MORE invisible. Don't make any changes that reduce your visibility. Be honest with yourself, are those flush mounts really as visible as the stockers? Really?

I changed out my OEM turn signals for flush-mount units mostly for aesthetic value , not so much for visibility to other motorist's as when I jump on my motorcycle, I assume that I "Become Invisible" to other's, and act accordingly.
For the most part, they just don't look for you or see you coming when you are riding on two wheels!

Thanks for that, I'm going to take a look at those. If I'm stopped at a stop sign and want to turn left, I want cars going the other way to have no doubt about what I want to do.

Like I said, you should ride that way regardless. There's a difference between riding like they can't see you, and actually helping them not see you. I was surprised by a turning motorcyclist not far from home awhile back. I saw him the entire time, but I didn't see his tiny aftermarket flush mount blinking feebly away.

I used to want flush mounts, that incident changed my mind in a heartbeat.

They're a little hard to find now that PJ's Parts is done. I found some on Fleabay, but also http://www.carpimoto.com/en-US/ I got the 02 model. They're not cheap, but they're intense and well made. I'm pleased with them.

Thanks, I did find them at carpimoto. I'd really like to see a comparison between the two types. The 02 model seems to have one bright LED, where the 01 has a row of LEDs, but it's hard to know which is more visible. Quality looks very good, from their description.

I'm doing all I can to preserve my 07's O.E.M. signals. I like them. I cringe to think of the time I removed my turn signals completely on my new 1973 Kaw 500 triple.

OEM turn signals

So, if you still want the nice, like new turn signals, I may have a set with the connector still intact, or I can splice and reconnect plug...I just know I will never use them again on one of my bikes

Do you have the link to those flush mount turn signals? Was any cutting necessary?

I was driving behind two bikes the other day. Both tuned left in front of me and they had their turn signals mounted inside their rear stop/running lamp. 1/2 of their tail light lite-up (left side) indicating they were turning left. I thought about using the two empty light sockets in the tail light housing of my 07' Ninja and turning them into turn signals. I thought "Naw, that would just confuse a driver behind me." So I added two stop light bulbs back there. I have to admit that it was very clear that the two bikes were turning left in front of me. Now I would turn those empty sockets into turn signals. It would clean-up the tail section of your bike and be very easy to do. You'll find sockets at your local auto pats store that fit nicely. I JB Welded my sockets in place.

Give it some thought.

Thanks for the info but I was referring to the front ones as posted in the picture above. I have an integrated taillight that did indeed clean up the back.
