service fuel level inspection

hi gang, con't from https://www.ninjette.org/forums/showthread.php?t=316226

so i've got the carbs off and trying to verify the service fuel level inspection outlined in the manual.
the behavior i find is exactly as seen in this video

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PHuB1lyagKM

Link to original page on YouTube.

i'm ~10mm off.
when i measure the float height i'm good at 17-18mm. but i wanted to prove out with the level inspection. has anyone else experience with this?

tia,
parker

Did you turn on fuel-flow from petcock with vacuum? New-gens don't have fuel-flow when turned to PRI position without vacuum.

What would the point of PRI be if it needs vacuum?

Pretty sure PRI doesn't depend on vacuum, it just flows gas all the time.

It's certainly supposed to be that way.

sorry guys, i implied when i said carbs off bike that i was following the manual's instructions and using a aux fuel tank.

i ended up trial and error on the tangs to see different levels and in doing so realized why the manual states "several turns" of the drain bolt. that actions appears to help evacuate the air bubble that forms.

Several turns allows for full pressure of fuel in bowl to fill column externally and achieve equilibrium not restricted by flow-rate of bleed screw.

Yeah, this is one of those cases where the manual is clearly wrong.
