1) Finish up expert license (4 more races with a best lap within 10% of the winner's, or 2 plus 2 rain races finished safely). I might need to do some volunteer hours too, I'd have to check my log.
2) Get into the 1:27s at PIR. That'd put me into the pack and require me to do some actual racing, not just riding fast.
3) Race with another club/track (WMRRA/AFM/???) - OMRRA has a combined round up at the Ridge, so that'd be ideal.
4) Not crash. Crashing sucks.

It's easier than you think. Just use a tire iron during the rider meeting

I'm not sure you can blow these little guys up if they have oil, seems like I've tried about everything but running out of oil. Even had a fuel delivery problem (that I thought I had fixed a couple times) so bad that it melted the electrodes off one of the spark plugs. Even downshifted at redline once (ok...maybe more ) when I first switched to GP shift.

Oh yeah, I've seen them blown too, but it always looked like they were low on or out of oil when they go...rod bearings first, then it takes the crank too, and if the nut behind the handlebars keeps going, the rod lets go doing all sorts of damage. Sometimes cam chain guide get worn and break.

ps: not counting the little things that get dropped into the motor when adjusting the valves

I kinda accidently dropped a 300 crank into the 250 engine. Since that puts me into the superbikey category, i ripped out the airbox as well. Need to get the jetting figured out in time for the road america round. Still the 250 chassis.

I'd be happy just to beat Doc Stein. My last year of racing ultralight in 2016, I at least got to the point where I could keep him in sight for much of a race, (thanks MR12!) but he could always late brake me.

He is easy to beat now. He stands at staging with a headset and clipboard. Hes a big sitting duck for that crowbar or 3" scrrwdriver of your choice. I think he did improve his daytona 200 results this time. He stopped doing the new racer school, Meghan (?) is teaching that now.

Oh no Doc Stein doesn't race anymore. He was the guy who signed my learning curves certificate in 2014. And he even personally called me in the hospital after I crashed out bad my first year. Now he's like me, just hanging out at the racetrack. Cool guy.

Lots of white plates chasing down this old yellow plate.

My next dilema: do I enter enough races to likely get my expert bump-up, or sandbag and stay a novice?

That pic was '16. Ultralights in CCS it still doesn't matter if you are amateur or expert does it? They are all still combined. I always hated that... I could have been kicking amateur ass, but yet there's still Drew Jankford and friends up there not letting me get on a podium.

Yep, the 300/500 classes are still combined. They are sometimes making a note of the highest placing amateur on the results but there is no trophy for that w/ CCS. I did get a nice big trophy for besy amateur in ASRA moto3 at RA.

My biggest gripe with the combined classes is that my ranking in overall amateur points gets penalized quite a bit as the "performance index" used counts the experts as well. If I finish mid pack and first amateur, I only get half the overall points that I would for an amaateur race win.

Oh hey @Zaph42 they had a nice memorial for Tim Miller at the track. About 50 bikes went around the track to benefit the red flag fund.

I don't know if you knew, but Tim Miller was a good buddy of mine. Lived right down the road from me in Appleton. Helped him out on his first track day. I kinda wish I'd been down there for that. I was at his funeral and 50 people wearing race leathers showed up.

Hmm kinda hard to see what's going on there. I see your bike sliding. I see what looks like a supermoto about to run it over, and I think I see you stuck in the back of the supermoto. Ouch. Glad you're ok.

NVUS only ever caught one image of me. I found it on the CCS site one time.

What it looks like: an evil bird of prey about to swoop down on an unsuspecting victim. What it actually is: the fastest guy on a SV650 lapping me. Bahahah.
