Question How Long Do Your Gloves Last?

On average, what is the lifespan of your riding gloves?

Depends on if you pee on them or not.

Got 3.5yrs in my current set. Heavy useage, but not daily.

3 years for my SP-2. I could technically still use them....but they smell like a rat died in them (even after washing).

Depends on the gloves. My Held Phantoms have lasted a good 3 years of daily use, including a couple tumbles and slides on the pavement. Some weeks, they average a couple hundred miles per day. Conversely, any shorty gloves I've ever owned have seemed to die withing a couple months (Scorpion gloves that a lady included with a jacket I once bought, and a pair of Alpinestars Scheme gloves, which I purchased new). Neither of the shorty gloves ever saw anything but the grips of my bike.

About 3yrs out of my Icon overlord gauntlets...I could still wear but stitching starting to come out and wouldn't trust it to hold up in a downage.

I bought my A*'s SP-2's back in Nov. 2012. They have seen the ground once and getting close to the end of their life. The leather on the gauntlet is pealing off and they kinda smell. But the stitching and leather is holding up everywhere else.

Good to know others get similar use out of their gloves. I think I'll order some SP-1's pretty soon.

hmm, my first set of gloves I still have but they're dirtbike gloves and not as good.
My current gloves need replacing but that's only because I crashed them a year ago and they're only now starting to really wear because of it (under daily use)
My track gloves will need replacing soon as they were crash tested at a good pace but are still usable

2 years seems to be the average for me bc one set has lasted 3(or more), one has lasted 2, and the other 1

Jono, I opted for the SP-1 this time. Haven't used them yet though. Still riding with my cold weather gloves right now. I hope the SP-1's quality matches the SP-2!

Uh? Gloves wear out?

Very first pair is >10 years, only stopped wearing them as the thinsulate is too compressed to hold warmth.

Mid weight gauntlets are still good despite a crash but don't need them on a daily basis. They've become my track gloves.

Lightweight shorties are 3 years and the white and black have been sun faded to grey, but holding up.

Heavy weight winter gloves are 2 years and awesome.

Not sure if I've ever had a pair die....?

My first pair of gloves were Scorpion EXO's, wore them for 2 1/2 years and they could still be worn. For Christmas I had ordered some AGV freestyle gloves that were on closeout. I am currently still wearing these, but in just 3 months the outside edge of each index finger have worn through. Definitley not impressed with them considering that even on closeout they were almost twice the amount I had paid for the Scorpions. Anyone else here have or wear AGV gloves?

I have a pair of Power Trip shorties that I love. I bought them over 10 years ago I'm guessing. I still wear them occasionally.

Track glove life expectancy is less than a year, street gloves like three. I voted two to be in the middle.

My mesh shorties seem to be 1 season and done. I've destroyed a pair of Icon and 2 pairs of A*'s so far. My leather A* SP-2s are going strong and unless I kill them in a crash, I think they'll be around for several more years.

Hmmm, my A* GP Plus gloves lasted for 4yrs (99% track/some street) including the crashes lol. Wonder why mine lasted so long vs. others whose did not? I didn't do anything special...

5 years on my Icon pursuit stealth glove. I've worn a small hole in the thumb but I keep riding them.... The plastic molding has reshaped so many times it doesn't have "knuckles" more, but they'll keep my safe in a slide...

Tour Master cold weather gloves are 7 years old and no worries with them. I usually recondition all my leather gear once a year and it seems to hold up great. Starting to wear through everything though, so might have to pick new boots here soon if I can't figure something else out...

mostly crashes that kill them / I tend to buy closeout $150-$200 gloves for like $65-75 when they hit the bargain bin section. Sometimes they are probably repairable and I just don't bother and get another pair from the bin lol.

the other thing that kills mine are the palms in the "non-impact" area of the hand. if its not a crash that kills them I normally wear/tear through that section but I know one of my bad habits is being too heavy on the bars when its not needed. maybe that is the killer

Too many variables to say. I've had some supposedly well-made gloves fall apart in a few months, and other pairs last for years. I currently have a pair of icon Pursuit gloves; they seem to be holding up well.

I have some A* SP8 I think they are. So far, this is their third season, one crash. There's a little bit of scuffing on them, but they're great. I do want something with more hyperextension protection though. a longer, more structured gauntlet would be good too.

When I was in CA, rojo took me to Helimut to check out their gear. HOLYY BALLSSS I want a pair of the new style glove he makes. So soft, nice and thick, and yet you don't lose any dexterity. A little beyond my pricerange right now, but I WILL get a pair of those in the near future.

My latest Helimots are about done; there are some softer/thinner areas, and all of the velcro closures are getting somewhat weak. They were solid for 3 years or so, survived two IBR's, and getting completely soaked and drying out many times over the years. Should head over one of these weekends to pick up a new set.
