The guys all came back home safe and sound and had a great time. The #511 didn't give them any problems aside of the issues they caused the bike. lol

The bad....
They crashed twice, both lowsides but the riders were not hurt and the bike crashed like a tank.

Parts list:
Clutch lever
Brake lever
Left clipon
Grips
Fairings have some holes that need patched up
Both rearset pegs
Right fork tube bent

They are providing the parts but I insisted on doing the work. Gunna be busy over the next few weekends. :\
Not bad for 2 lowsided. Its cold out and you needed something to do anyway...

So I'm old and a bit of a luddite: that's Eminem singing, a band soundtrack without guitar and your son fills in the guitar licks?

Awesome!
Over the years I've played (that's an embelishment) a little electric bass, acoustic guitar, accordion (until I discovered the girls were laughing at me!) and alto sax. Nothing I'd ever post online though! Kudos!

I only got real one update since the last one but it's better than nothing.

I can't hardly stay away from the track even with the snow on.

I attended a coaches meeting at Mid-Ohio. Good be an interesting season as changes come together to make Mid-O more of a "school" vs just any other normal track day.

T-3 days until I can update this thread with some real riding content and pics from Jennings FL.

You just never know who or what you will experience at the track. I wanna give a special shout out to the riders of the Amish Racing group. Bunch of cool riders that just roll with it. I will ride with ya'lls again anytime.

I think.... Under their beards was a fist full of throttle. They aint no strangers to speed.

Wow, what a great weekend!!!! The weather, the food, the friends (old and new), the weather, the riding, the bikes, the weather, the goofing around, the new things and old things, the weather and not skinning my elbow learning to ride a hoverboard. hahahahahah Did I mention the weather?!?!?!?!!

The short update;

1. Me, Kevin and Adam (first time track rider) @Putnam
2. Everyone rode clean sessions, no crashes
3. Jade was a bit bored but has a new boyfriend and spent much time on the phone (12yr olds.... )
4. Omg the food... philly cheesesteak for lunch on day 1 and itailian beef/pork for lunch on day 2. Fresh grilled corn on the cob, tossed salad and watermelon
5. New friends - Jeff, Brandi and their family from http://j-and-b-tees.com/ all in on the paddock shannagans for 2 days. Cool kids that were polite and well behaved. Special thanks to them for not laughing at me too much when an old guy tries to learn to ride a hoverboard and was very wobbly. Props to them for the pointers and tips to get me started well on my way

MCRA- Once again, put on a great track day and their support for the baby bikes. 250's, 300's and such all gridded up and some good racing. It was really cool to look out and see 3 or 4 ninjette members throwing down when the green flag drops. The drone footage is cool and will get even better as time goes on.

Link to original page on YouTube.

I am now 100% sure that my next little bike will be a r3. Thanks to Mike (I forget his ninjette member name) for the look at his bike. Adam for the great showing in the races. Andrew for stopping by the pit for a chat and everyone that I am forgetting.

Kevin rolling through pit out

Adam making his way back to the paddock after his session

Adam in turn 10

3 or so ninjette members on the grid on various small bikes

Good times!!!

Still shaking hands ya'lls!

Last night I scratched an item off my bucket list. Going to a drag show has been on my list for a long time but I finally got it done. I had a blast! It was an experience I will not forget anytime soon either. If you have not been, GO! And do not hesitate. Everyone was very welcoming to a n00b to the scene and I was very happy to raise a drink with new friends made. Variety is truly the spice of life.

I did something similar this year.

Not going to allow the level of negativity in my life that I had previously. It's hard. Change is hard. Keep it going!

lol Harper!!!!

In only a few weeks I will be leading the novice group at Mid-O. 25 faces (some fresh, some repeats) looking at me for whatever their goals are for the day. Gunna be interesting to say the least, I plan on having just as much fun and learning just as much as the novice riders do.

I also plan on taking more photos and video than I did last year now that I know what to expect and how novice riders work with being recorded while riding.

Stay tuned!

Maria part 2

I had the pleasure of meeting and helping a young lady by the name of Maria for her first track day.

Overview:
She rode her bike to the track day near 2h trip each way
She arrived solo, no friends
She arrived with minimal tools and bike prep
She had little knowledge of how a track day progresses from start to finish

Here are the highlights of her story;

Arrived on time and registered in the N group
I was standing in registration (getting coffee) while she asked questions about tech and such and offered to help her
Her bike was street ready in the paddock
We started to prep her bike and others jumped in to help without even being asked
4 riders total were helping to prep the bike
She passed tech with flying colors (I teched her bike)
She was assigned to my coaching group in the N group
She missed her first session because her gear didn't pass tech
She got on track the second session no problems and rode clean sessions all day
Throughout the day, I ensured she wasn't feeling alone and included in the days events
At the end of the day she left very happy and made amazing progress

Special note: She kept apologizing for being slower than other riders. Each time she did that, I promptly said "Stop apologizing for having fun!" and she finally did.

At the end of the day, she had to ride home. We told her she may be more tired than she currently feels and take breaks often. Part of her trip home was also the same as my route, I offered to watch out for her as I drove home. She must have made it just fine as I didn't see her anywhere.

Happy riders makes me smile.
Maria came back to Mid-Ohio for her second track day and it didn't go as planned.

I don't even need to say anything more... the video says it all.

Track report from my last outing.

This little bird spent 3 days with me. He took up residence on top of my trailer. I must admit that it was a bit aggravating at 3am when he was walking around but we got along ok in the end. Imma put up a sign next time though, "DO NOT FEED THE WILDLIFE".

Gotta watch for little ones in the paddock.

After the riding is done, it seems I am always cooking something.

All in all another good 3 days of riding with old friends and some new ones. +4 new hands shaken. I will be some someones photos somewhere, as I photobombed a couple of pics for fun.

Broken stuff report:
1 lower fairing bolt
2 tires all used up and changed
1 visor that wasn't completely secure and blew off down the back straight
1 boot sole that partially came off when I kicked some debris off the track. Gorilla glue can save the day until it can be fixed properly

**NEW**
Save report: A lady that I have coached a few times had her lower fairing come loose on the second lap and I was 3rd behind her. Upon noticing the problem at hand, and a quick flick of the throttle, the rider was slowed to a paced where no harm was done asside of a couple of yellow flags. With fairings secured, she was back out there the next session enjoying the rest of her day.

It was a good day....

Oh, for those that don't know... this is a scuba dive computer. If you think biking is an expensive hobby, try scuba. ahahahahaha

This is what it looks like in action.

OOooohhhh, nice new dive computer! Mine's not that new and it needs to get wet again soon.

(and get a bungee strap as a backup or something; the straps break a lot and you'd hate to lose it)

You could always make it easier for her an put new knobs with a struggle and tenis ball attached, that's how they can let themselves out of police cars

That's a purdy girl Mr Smith!!!! I love the Shepherds. We've had 3 and all 3 were wonderful family & friends.
But; is she pure bred or on the Pilsbury dough diet?!?

Is she ex police? From your family or adopted out? Careful what you say or gesticulate!
