Identifying jets

Pulled these out of a spare carb and want to know how they would work. They look like they would flow more fuel than the ones I have on the bike now.

vs.

Any help?

Lol, just buy jets that you know work for the bike. Not worth the headache, IMHO

More importantly; does your mom/wife/whatever know you're using their good, white terry cloth towels to work on your motorcycle?!?

Curious if those jets all come from 250 carbs! There certainly would be a difference in fuel flows!

The little orifice of the head is what regulates the amount of fuel that goes into the air stream.
That precisely calibrated orifice is what is improperly called "jet".

The holes on the side walls are meant for air to "foam" (emulsify) the fuel after it flows trough the jet and before if flows though the needle/guide and into the air stream.
That foaming helps the process of mixing air and fuel by the Ventury effect (the one that sucks the fuel up trough the tube of your pictures and makes it jump into the air flowing through the throat of the carb).
Older carbs just had less holes.

That's awesome thank you. Science!
So, what you're saying is these might do the bike better if I were to switch to K&N filter.
