Spark plug removal tool or tool kit
I need to replace the plugs in my 2011, I think they might be causing some issues with the engine. My bike didn't come with a tool kit, so if anyone is selling a tool kit or the spark plug removal tool then let me know!
ps. also I am looking for a rear load adjuster tool pps. if anyone knows how to get the plugs out without the tool then that would be great too Cheers. |

you can use a normal spark plug tool
dont know what a "rear load adjuster tool" is but i assume you mean the shock preload spanner wrench?

i think its 5/8" actually. i leave the tank on but have the fairings off. i just use a 5/8" spark plug tool (which has a rubber grip to grab the plug) and a short 3" extender, i put the plug tool on the extender and put it down there, then click the ratchet on. once its loose, i click off the ratchet and take it out by hand.
i also just use either a pair of channel locks, or if i'm in a pinch a hammer and a chissel for tapping the preload adjuster. but people give me **** for that.

Remember not to overtorque the plug when installing it or you will damage the soft aluminum threads and it will require helicoil. I've done it before

Don't buy the tool kit if you don't have to. Just pick up a spark plug socket from your local hardware store. It works perfectly fine. You'll probably need a socket extension as well if you don't already own a ratchet/socket set.
For the preload, get a Channel Lock. Works like a charm. |
