was looking for the "250r" font for someone and i came across this.
Carbon style three-piece set covers
J2002-K001
Suggested retail price of 15,540 yen
(JPY \ 14,800, tax \ 740)

it isn't real carbon fiber, but i would have liked to get the gauge surround and mirror covers.

It looks real cool and would kick ass it the factory used CF in these places, but the whole "double sided sticky tape on carbon fiber overlay trim pressed firmly to the dash and mirrors" thing is cheesy and flimsy.

Manufactures need to build sh*t appealing to the non-"squid" crowd. If I could buy CF mirror housings, where the actual mirror is pulled from the black housing, and placed into the CF housing, and put on the bike, and the black housing are placed in a box in your garage or sold on ebay, THAT is what i call cool. Granted i doubt i'd take apart the dash and want to move everything from one dash to a CF dash, just so i have a CF dash, but i would rather do that, then stick an overlay over my current dash with double sided sticky tape. It's just cheesy man, in my own opinion. But i dont knock mods/farkles, i LOVE the blue bike on this forum with the airbrushed flames and powdercoated wheels, and i also love the one with the polished wheel lips.

disclaimer: i am not calling anyone here a squid, i myself only have about 700 miles on my bike, and TOTAL in all my life. I think it looks real cool, just needs to be done the right way.

Now THIS i love, i use a rear seat cowl which doesn't lock so securely, and even if it did, i'd be worried about my helmet scratching the fairings. I'm going to do a little research and see if something like this is available in the us, weather a universal piece or one specific to our ninjas.

I was thinking about getting that CF gauge cover when I go to Japan this fall. I'm hoping that the yen get weaker by then. I have to see it in person though.

well, if you are going to japan, have you seen the a-tech line? they don't have a gauge cover, but they have a gauge surround. pricey though.

It`s amazing how much stuff is available for the 250 in Europe, Japan, and elsewhere. The US aftermarket has still not, in my view, responded to the growing popularity of 250cc bikes. I do, to some degree blame the press. When our gas prices were high (not in comparison to the rest of the world) the motorcycle magazines couldn`t print enough articles praising 250`s. Now that fuel prices are down, we see ho-hum articles ocassionally. These rags are totally advertisement driven. The motorcycling public in the end, needs to do its own research and hopefully will get some good advice from a reputable dealer. Again, without this board, we would all be in the dark (unless you check out Kelly`s HID DIY)

John, Probably the same reason many people are unwilling to give up big cars in favor of smaller more fuel efficient ones. We got a Pontiac Vibe, two wheel drive, 1.8L 4Cyl Toyota engine, and a 5Sp Manual transmission. We shift a bit more on hills--just like the Ninjette, but all in all, are happy with the car. When we got it, it got 39mpg. Since they added Ethanol to the gas, milage dropped to 35mpg. I also noted a decline in the gas milage for the Ninjette--cruising at 65, I get about 62mpg when before, I got 67mpg. Father-in-law had to quit driving because of his vision, so he gave us his 95 3/4 Ton Chev Suburban with every option. Never saw winter so there is no rust. It has a 6.5L Turbo Diesel which pulls like a freight train. It is rear wheel drive and gets 18mpg. It has two 25gal fuel tanks. It`s like driving the Queen Mary. When I drive my father in law to the VA--47mi one way, I have to use cruise control. That rig will hit 80 and you don`t even know it. There is just no sense of speed in that thing. Rigs like that are dinosaurs unless you tow a boat, horse trailer, or an RV. The torque on that beast is impressive. As for the Ninjette--Last year they were as scarce as hen`s teeth. I did a three state search to get mine--and the only one I could get was one with Monster Graphics (Thank God for hair dryers). There is a picture of the bike somwhere in the Ninjette.org archives. It looked gawdawful. Now we have ninjettes used all over the place--08 and 09. I do think it is related to gas prices.
