Ticking noise on front wheel?

When I am pushing the bike(while it's off and on neutral) I hear a ticking noise similar to the noise one hears when a card is hitting their bicycle spokes. Is this the mileage counter? Or is this not normal? Thanks for any info.

Leo, You might want to check your speedometer cable. Does the speedometer needle pulsate in a regular pattern? Mine did, and it turned out to be a frayed speedo cable. The only other thing I can think of is that you may have gotten some debris on your disc rotor or in the caliper. If you have a compressor available, you might want to blow some air on the disc brake assembly. Good luck.

Ok guys, I just had a chance to put the bike up on stands and free-wheel spin the front. Well, there's no ticking noise. I think it's just a piece of pebble wedged between one of the grooves on the front tire. Thanks for all the quick replies though!!

Try putting the rear up on a stand and spin the rear tire. Maybe the chain is making noise on the front sprocket.

And if the chain is making noise on the front sprocket what does that mean?

Good question, I'll defer to the mechanics and experts on this site...

That you need to clean the excess chain lube / grime out from your sprocket. Or your rear tire alignment could be off causing the chain to ride one side.

Just found out that my bike only makes the noise when I put the bike in neutral and hit the kill switch and let it roll. Is that normal??
