Exclamation Noob Jetting Question

Okay I am lost on how to actually change out the main jet with the dyno one mainly because there are 2 different looking things.

1. the "keeper/guide" of the needle the first brass part to touch the needle and the long "main jet" that actually screws in.

The problem is that the replacement (DJ98) is too small to screw into the threading of the original main jet.

My question is that does this new replacement (DJ98) main jet replace that keeper or guide part or does it act as something that goes in between the two stock parts?

I know this may sound confusing but I am totally lost. Could any one care to go step by step on actually changing out the main jet?

Thanks in advance

Side problem: I have damaged the head of the mixture screw while drilling them out. I can manage to twist the screw but not so easily. is it possible to get a replacement screw? or is that screw not supposed come out? (because it sounds like there is a spring in there, that might pop out)

thanks kkim, i did read that however the main jet replacement from dynojet is basically like the size of a pilot jet brass screw (or the threading anyways)

I have been trying to just get that top part out of the main jet (the tip above the 8mm nut thing) but it seemed to me that it was all just one part.

am I making sense? if not I'll have to try and get cell phone pix into this thread haha. actually, ill start doing this now.

Okay I finally understand haha, the main jet is merely the that top part and it is just kind of hard to get off.

last question, how far do I tighten up that 8mm nut?

hand tight or tighten down until all of the threads are in?

thanks for the help

that 8mm "nut" is part of the needle jet/emulsion tube. You need to snug it down so it's tight, but not too tight. The aluminum carb body and the brass of that needle jet makes for an easy combination for stripped threads. Not too tight, but snug.

I snuged it down but it is exposing about 2 threads, is this okay?

i've searched the service manual but it doesn't really specify on this needle jet tube

thread it in as far as you can till it's snug. If that's all it will go, don't force it past there. Is it the same on the other carb?
