MotoGP Fans?

So who else out there is into MotoGP besides me? I'm pretty excited to see Suzuki back in the paddock.

Should be exciting! Bike looks sexy!

I hope they use what learn from all this R&D to update their GSXR's.

It sure looks good. I'm picking up an '05 GSX-R 600 very soon. If they update the GSX-R I hope they go with a more traditional look to the fairings. I don't like the modular look that the supers have had the last few years. Looks to me like they are trying to appeal to the naked bike crowd. Race style fairings look so bad-ass.

Here's a side by side of the 2011 and 2014 Suzuki GP bikes:

LONG time F1 and more recent MotoGP fan here.

I've had the privilege of going to one MotoGP race.... Indy in 09. Got to see Rossi crash (d'oh!). Been to half a dozen F1 races.

So far Suzuki is just a step ahead Kawasaki in MotoGP. That guy Rossi taking second behind the Honda guy was impressive. He should try and make a career out of this.

F1 was good today also. Massa rocks! I hear next year they are changing to V16s and back to skirts.

HUGE GP fan here. Too bad for Suzuki, pretty dismay wild card. Although I am not a Suzuki fan, (fan of the HRC empire) I do think that Suzuki did a good on selecting riders.

Go Marc, Go Cal and Go Nicky 2015!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm not a Suzuki fan either, but I'd at like to see them be competitive at least. After watching Sunday's race it looks like they've got a long way to go. Kinda surprising

Disappointing race for Lorenzo as well. I hope that he can have a better season next year.

I don't think you guys realize that Suzuki was there, as a wild card, with their 2015 bike. Honda and Yamaha said Suzuki could ride in the race as long as they only used 2nd and 3rd gear.

Hahahahahaha!! Not quite but todays testing was better but maybe because it was a little warmer. Maverick and Aleix did pretty well today. I think Maverick was running with the traction control/wheelie control off to get a feel for the throttle and power. The difference in grip and braking between Moto3 and MotoGP is huge. Tomorrows time should be interesting.

Did he have Goose riding with him? That could slow him down a bit.

I guess that could explain why they were 20 km/h slower than everyone else in the straightaway.

No Whiners!

Good to see Rossi coming strong at the end of the year like that. I wonder what Lorenzo's issues were with the front end, it seemed like he was fast here and there, but couldn't maintain the consistency most races.

With Aprilia and Suzuki getting back into it, let's hope Kawi decides to throw in their entry in a year or two. Kazi's been doing really well in WSBK, so maybe they are ready to add a race team to MotoGP soon.

I got the WSBK videopass this year, and after seeing all the extras, I think I will be doing the same for MotoGP as well, next year. Got the computer hooked up to the 66" Flatscreen.

On Black Friday Dorna had a sale on MotoGP Videopass. For 1 Euro you got full access for the off season. Great deal. I got it and I'm digging it. Watching all of the racing I missed. Hundreds of hours of video.

Back in Indianapolis....

I was asking this guy to legally adopt me, maybe if I had his surname I'd be faster...

Then I thought I'd trade in my zx6r for a Ruckus, because for some reason this Ruckus looked so cool...

Another Marquez fan. Hard not to dig his style when he can do stuff like this:

Personally I can't wait to see what Jack Miller will do at LCR.

I'm a tad bit skeptical about Jack Miller skipping Moto2. I do hope I'm wrong, it's just that there's a reason why that division is there. I really do think he's talented and he's one of the most interesting and nicest guys in the paddock, but even Marc Marquez had to go through Moto2.

Moto2 is being seen as less important in the developement chain these days. The racing and racecraft is tougher in Moto3. The main reason Tito stayed in Moto2 is that there were no top seats available in MotoGP.

Too bad that Moto2 isn't a stock 600 class, sort of a WSBK of 600's. Be way more interesting to see but that'll never happen. Dorna either owns or has their fingers in everything so not much will change. Hopefully whatever the new AMA situation is it'll improve the coverage. The coverage has been pretty lame compared to MotoGP/2/3. More like watching club racing.

More like watching club racing.
moto2 is basically a spec class with honda engines. teams just build frames to fit the engine. Theoretically the racing should be closer.

WSS is the WSBK of 600s lol. There is already a class for that and Dorna owns it too lol. MotoAmerica does have a WSS equivalent class planned I believe and is working towards aligning it to the world class standard.

I believe the MotoAmerica packaging is with CBSSports Network and will be televised but am not sure which races we will actually be able to see. But hey its moving in the right direction.

In terms of Moto2 vs WSS its pretty interesting to look at the differences between the classes in terms of lap data. Moto2 is now both faster than the old 250cc class and the WSS bikes while also being closer in terms of the lap time spread.

If there is a US round at Miller this year, I am really going to try to go to support it. From where I am, it's about the same drive to Miller or Laguna Seca (~12 hours).

I am excited that there will be at least some MotoAmerica presence at the WSBK and GP rounds in the US as well with two support races scheduled at COTA, Indy, and Laguna.

Moto2 is a "spec" class to be sure and will be more so in 2015. I think almost all but 7 or 8 riders will be on Kalex. Here's the entry list for 2015:

No Rider Nationality Team Machine
2 Jesko Raffin SUI SAG Team Kalex
3 Simone Corsi ITA NGM Forward Racing Kalex
4 Randy Krummenacher SUI Jir Moto2 TBC
5 Johann Zarco FRA Ajo Motorsport Kalex
8 Gino Rea GBR AGT Rea Racing Kalex
10 Thitipong Warokorn THAI APH PTT The Pizza SAG Kalex
11 Sandro Cortese GER Dynavolt Intact GP Kalex
12 Thomas Luthi SUI Derendinger Racing Interwetten Kalex
19 Xavier Simeon BEL Federal Oil Gresini Moto2 Kalex
21 Franco Morbidelli ITA Italtrans Racing Team Kalex
22 Sam Lowes GBR Speed Up Speed Up
23 Marcel Schrotter GER Tech3 Tech3
25 Azlan Shah MAL Idemitsu Honda Team Asia Kalex
30 Takaaki Nakagami JPN Idemitsu Honda Team Asia Kalex
36 Mika Kallio FIN Italtrans Racing Team Kalex
39 Luis Salom SPA Paginas Amarillas HP40 Kalex
40 Alex Rins SPA Paginas Amarillas HP40 Kalex
49 Axel Pons SPA AGR Team Kalex
53 Tito Rabat SPA Marc VDS Racing Team Kalex
55 Hafizh Syahrin MAL Petronas Raceline Malaysia Kalex
60 Julian Simon SPA QMMF Racing Team Speed Up
66 Florian Alt GER OCTO Iodaracing Team Suter
70 Robin Mulhauser SUI Technomag Racing Interwetten Kalex
73 Alex Marquez SPA Marc VDS Racing Team Kalex
77 Dominique Aegerter SUI Technomag Racing Interwetten Kalex
88 Ricky Cardus SPA Tech3 Tech3
94 Jonas Folger GER AGR Team Kalex
95 Anthony West AUS QMMF Racing Team Speed Up
96 Louis Rossi FRA Tasca Racing Scuderia Moto2 Tech3
To Be Confirmed NGM Forward Racing Kalex
To Be Confirmed Gresini Racing Moto2 Kalex

I still like watching Moto2 over Moto3. The Moto2 bikes look like proper race bikes and they aren't always at full throttle.

I'd like to catch the last round of the AMA Series at NJMSP next September. It conflicts with a trip I take every year.
