Best brakes for 08+, front and rear combo?

I am in the market for some damn good brakes. I would like to hear from people with experience what would be the best brakes for the New-Gen Ninjette. I am looking for something that can handle hard braking as well as traffic, and won't be worn after a season of riding. I have looked at EBC HH as well as the Vesrah equivalent. Experience from those who have track tested the brakes would also help. What is the most effective front/rear combo?

You've listed the two most popular already.

Because they are the same brake, the most effective would be two of the best single type. The only reason to use different types is to save money (sintered/HH on the front, organic on the back; you want your best brake on the front). People seem to swear by EBC. Never hear much about Galfer except for their braided brake lines. Not sure how Vesrah compares but they seem popular. All I know is that the Sixity brand on eBay has a lot more meat than OEM or EBC (used them on the rear once).

Do they use the same pads (part #) in the front and rear?

Really? Weird. The info I found was that the front used sintered while the rear was organic. I don't remember where I found that info tho.

That applies to the older gens (rear brake locked easily I guess so a softer rear helped them). I can confirm they're the same front and back on the new gen since I have same ebc sintered on both front and back.

The pads from the factory are the same. There has been advice that if you do choose to use two different brake pad compounds, HH (sintered) on the front with non-HH (organic) on the back isn't a terrible idea when replacing them. But there's nothing wrong with just putting the same FA197HH's on both F/R either.

Yup. I've done it to save money but then you shouldn't switch the front and rears when they get disproportionately worn unless you're OK with having organic on the front (honestly, EBC organic worked fine on the front for me).

I had a different experience when I put the standard FA197's on the front, they were much weaker than I preferred, requiring way too much lever pressure and not enough bite even then.

I took Alex's advice and went with the HH in the front and rear. I haven't gotten them yet, but when I do, I will leave feedback on them. I do know that I had to apply a lot of pressure as well with the OEM organic ones, and if the HH gives me better bite for less effort, then my money was well spent..Hell, it was well spent anyway! I got them cheaper than OEM brake pads!

Having run all the big name pads. The Best pads are the Vesrah's IMHO. The EBC Power Pro series is almost identical. Then Ferodo. Then EBC HH. Galfer I was not impressed with when compared to the others.

Alex to update the Wiki for Vesrah.

The new gen is VD250 JL

The pre gen is VD427 JL front and VD430 JL

I am not ever riding on the track, so I think the HH will suffice for twisty Kentucky roads and traffic back and forth to school. I am glad I got good feedback from you guys tho! I am going to try the Vesrah's next. I do hear they are the best but I caught a heckuva deal on the EBC HH.

Thx Matt, I updated both wiki pages just now. Anyone can edit them directly as well, just double-click on them and they immediately go into edit mode. Not necessarily. On supersports, people consciously go with sintered on the front (as you need the most breaking power and response here) and organic on the rear in order to have just a bit less 'bite' in the rear. This way, the rider reduces the chance that they will inadvertently apply too much force in the rear. With a sintered pad in the rear, the rider has to be a bit more careful in applying rear because of the more instantaneous response and greater power.
