Perhaps noticing the success rival Yamaha has seen with its sports heritage models, Honda will unveil a retro-infused modern café racer in Milan next month ahead of the 2017 EICMA show.

Honda has released two videos teasing what it calls a “Neo Sports Café“, or “Project NSC.” The first video includes a shot of a model of a fuel tank being formed out of clay above an engine, which, with the frequent use of the word “Project” would suggest a concept. But there are glimpses of an actual tank, a round headlight and a raised handlebar and other details that suggest the NSC is, if not production ready, really close.



The second video is more illuminating, showing what appears to be a four-cylinder engine, a short tail and a combination rear tire fender and license plate holder. Much of the video seems to have been shot at Honda’s factory in Kumamoto, Japan, including what looks like the bike running on a dynamometer, which also suggests we’ll see an actual production vehicle rather than a concept at EICMA.



What we can briefly see of the engine looks a lot like the CBR650F’s engine, so perhaps the NSC is an evolution of the ideas behind the CB4 and CB Six50 concepts Honda showed at EICMA in 2015.
