Put a deposit down on a 2011 White SE

Well last year my wife started riding and I bought her an 08 250, she did a lot of practice, took the MSF course, rode the entire season and loves it. She shared her 250 with me as it was a blast to ride, I started commuting on it and then riding it more and more... commuting, group rides, store trips, etc. She had an ankle surgery over the winter and said I could ride it full time as I decided to sell my other bikes that were mostly sitting... before I knew it I was only riding the 250 and sold my ZX14, WR250X Supermoto, YSR50 and Street Glide. The agreement was I could have her 250, mod it to my liking and she would get a new one in the spring.

Last week we put a deposit down on a 2011 White SE at our local dealer. They said we should hear something in the next week or so about delivery. She's a fair weather rider so no rush really. The dealer agreed to full msrp on the bike but no "freight" or "setup" charge... made us happy as the next best deal I could find around here was 2 states away to save $500... not worth my time/driving to get it in my opinion.

As an aside they had 3, 2010's left, one was a SE that they were offering at the same price as the 2011... weird.

Anyway, once we get it I will post some pics.

Awesome, I can't wait to see it! The new gauge backgrounds look a lot better too, I think they accent the bike nicely, especially the white ones.

She hurt it 2 years ago hiking, put it off as long as possible until needed surgery... Pretty bad actually of a surgery, had to remove chipped bone, then do a graft from her shin which was painful but she's good now, thanks for asking.

so can we assume that this was a lesson learned for her? Putting off something like that does get you into surgery.

Yup, she tried to hold out as long as she could knowing all the while surgery was the only way to really fix. Now she's all patched up and ready for the new bike.

Thanks for all the kind words, we are both excited. I will post up pics as soon as we get it, can't wait!

@zilaniz - My WR250X was a 2009, I bought it used from a guy who worked at a bike shop out in VA, he got it cheap as an employee. He lost his job and just wanted to dump the bike so I got it cheap. I did a few mods and sold it for about $400 more than I had in it for $4700, here is a pic:

I loved the WR, lots of fun and go anywhere bike... up/down curbs, grass/dirt, small jumps and on the road. I put the dual sport light duty big sidewall tires on in place of the 17" street tires. The bike was cheap, easy to work on like the Ninja... just not too comfy for 75+ minute rides, plus the seat height was very tall. I had to cut down the stock seat (not the seat shown in the pic above) and recover to get more of a planted stance. So all in all, a great bike for city riding... potholes and speed humps/bumps at 35mph are great... it really brings out your inner hooligan!!

Right now I'm waiting on:

Progrip Tank Pad
Zero Gravity Double Bubble
Shogun Frame Sliders
and some additional gear.

I'm on the fence over the adjustable levers. Maybe for my bday in July...

@ warlord - good mod list you have going. biggest thing for us is the gearing, once we rode with 15/42 on my 2008 the stock setup feels SOOOOO LOW we can hardly stand it, lol. The new sprockets should be here next week so no biggie. As for the levers I'm a fan of the shorty levers so we will have to see what she wants for this bike... I have Pazzo's and they are great but cost a lot so if we do get levers we may try some eBay ones since others on here seem to have had good luck with them.

@ randomwalk101 - your bike looks great! love the white... I also like the solid red rim strips and seat, that all ties in very well.

@ Tony KZ1 - Thanks, she loves it.

Today I cut down the temp plate, cut the stinger off, put the battery tender lead in and went on a 30 mile ride.

So are you going to mount an 12v accessory outlet and a tender lead?
How about just do the 12v accessory outlet with a 12v accessory battery tender connector like this:
Battery Tender 12v cigarette adapter

It'll eliminate having a loose tender wire on your bike.

You mentioned scrubbing in the tires, don't forget to literally scrub them with a mild soap solution before as there is a residue, my ADD is active at the moment but i'm talking a quick wipe down wash and dry.

Yes, both. I use both connections for charging/recharging my gps, iPhone, iPad. I have an sae to 12 volt connector also for 2 devices at once. Thanks though

Great advice, thank you. I wash the bike, wheels, tires and also check many other items... Axles, cables, misc bolts. I used to work at Annapolis Honda Motorcycles years ago... So I like to double check everything.
