{HELP} Clutch Slipping

Hey, I realize that recently, my engine speed doesnt match my clutch speed sometimes, it only has 9600kms on it, so i dont think the plates are worn out right? Perhaps someone can gives me a heads-up?
Takes me a good ~3sec to hit 20km p/h

Have you been using only motorcycle approved oil?

3600 KM later, since you are in Australia, you might be on the "severe service" schedule, try changing your oil to a premium synthetec motorcycle oil like Motul 7100 or any oil that is JASO-MA approved, like the Systhetic Shell Rotella-T6

I have the factory service manual for Australia

it recommends oil change at 1k 12k 24k 36k or every year, whichever comes first.

also there is a number sign.. and i quote

"#: Service more frequently when operating in severe conditions; dusty, wet, muddy, high speed or frequent starting/stopping."

So, like I said, if you live in Australia, you have to change it more often, as the average temperature is higher and the oil breaks down faster.

In other words "clutch slip",

-for an example, while my RPM goes up to 7-8000, my engine is gradually creeping up to the appropriate rpm, so I would be on ~7000-8000 rpm, but my speed would be ~20km, and it slowly increases,.

okay... just checking to see if the issue were a bad CDI like others have been having, but it does not sound like it from your description.

The classic check for a slipping clutch is to put the bike in the highest gear (6th) and open up the throttle quickly. If the engine rpm increases, but speed does not proportionately, the clutch is slipping.

If it is indeed the oil that is causing the clutch to slip, your bike would be the first that I've heard that is doing so from oil contamination.

Are you sure the previous owner didn't abuse the clutch and simply wore it out?

when you change the oil, pass the collected oil through a cloth filter and see if you can find evidence of clutch plate pieces in the used oil.

oic, mmm it doesn't have to be in gear 6, I can actually feel it in gear 1, I'm thinking of bringing it to my authorised dealer, should I check my clutch plates / change my oil before I bring it to him? Btw, what's CDI?

If you going to do an oil change anyways, might as well do the clutch yourself. Since it shares the same oil and the rest of the engine, it would be a waste to change oil and then decide to change the clutch. I've done a clutch and it isn't too difficult to do. Just make sure you get all the parts needed. If you need some pointers let me know.

Wow.. I couldn't find anyone that made a set. You might just have to order the parts individually. When I did mine, I didn't replace the steel plates, I just replaced the organic ones and kept the discs in the same order. Worked out pretty good for me.

is your bike still under warranty? If so, let them check it out for you.

CDI= capacitive discharge ignition.

Your dealer should be able to help you with any potential warranty issues.
