Underlights

Yes yes, the infamous underlights.

I live in Missouri and I'm considering putting some LED underlights on the bottom of the bike. Of course the closest police station didn't seem to know what colors were legal or whatever so does anyone know or have a link that I can read? Having a hard time finding anything, thanks peace

I think the only thing you can't do is have red emitting/seen from the front of the vehicle.....

The laws... The melt my brain. Oh well, I'll just put them on there and see if I get pulled over, that's the only sure way to find out right?

That's an orientation law. There are also laws in many places that limit blue lights to pollice and/or emergency services.

Going through that list of laws it looks like only red auxiliary lights would be illegal for you. It may be only flashing red lights on top of that.

Assuming you stay away from red I don't think you'd run into many problems.

Glad I live in Texas, no limits on colors here

This page (with all those colors) used to be on our DMV/DPS page. Was removed from the website though :O

Do you know if it is illegal to ride with them on though? I'm doing this for visibility reasons (looking cool is just a side-bonus)

Any FL riders know the laws for these? And do cops really care?

To whom it concerns, I got pulled over last night and used the opportunity to ask a cop about the underlights. He told me as long as you can't see them from the front or rear you're fine w/ any color. I'm not sure the rear part is true but I take comfort in knowing at least some part of the bike can use the underlights.

Edit: This applies to FL riders

The pa law reads as follows

Quote:
§ 4310. Motorcycle lighting.
Auxiliary lighting may be added to a motorcycle to protect the driver, including blue dot illumination, standard bulb running lights and light-emitting diode (LED) pods and strips.
(June 29, 2006, P.L.205, No.50, eff. 60 days)
