Clutch Cable Advice

I need a new clutch cable for my 2007 Ninja 250. I see the OEM cables are around $35 and i saw one from Motion Pro for around $10. Motion Pro says their cable "meets or exceeds" the OEM quality. Has anyone here ever used a non OEM clutch cable ?? Any advice will be greatly appreciated!!

Thanks !

Yes, I've used Motion Pro clutch cable and have spare one in my toolbox. Works just fine! I've been trying to find one with teflon-lined housing, but no luck yet. Might have to fit an MTB brake-cable perhaps.

Thing to be careful about is slot in adjuster in lever. It has sharp edges and will shred your cable! I always make sure to have adjuster turned so that slot is aimed up and down since cable is moved laterally by motion of lever.

OK. Thanks for the advice. I ordered one yesterday. I also saw in a youtube video about always lubricating new cables. I will do that too.

Thanks!!

Yeah, lubing is key. I use one those spray adapters to rinse out and lube cable during off-season.
