Help please!!! Clutch cable
Okay so something happened with my clutch cable, all the tiny wires frayed. My boyfriend removed the old clutch cable and i bought a new one today. I'm trying to get it mostly back together before he gets in from work. If i am sitting on my bike, looking down at the handle bars, does my clutch cable go infront of the forks, and then down the right side of the bike, or does it go under the forks and "across" the top of the engine?
Really hoping I didn't buy the wrong cable! He said it was for a '12 ninja 250. But so far it looks to be about 6 inches too short. |

Good pic, C-Bass!
A trick for next time Jessica or boyfriend replaces a clutch cable: Have the new cable in hand before you remove the old cable. Unhook both ends of the old cable. Duct tape the bottom end of the new cable to the top end of the old cable. Pull out the old cable from the bottom while feeding the new cable in from the top. Remove the duct tape when the new cable is pulled through: routing for the new cable is now correct and in same place as the old cable. |

Do you have the supplies to lube the new cable? It comes dry so you'll need grease on the pivot point at the lever and lube for the cable itself.
Here's a nice DIY: https://www.ninjette.org/forums/showthread.php?t=16000

Thanks for the help!!
We got the clutch taken care of, just to run into more issues. :/ Going down the road, my bike is crooked? the rearend isn't crooked, nor does it feel like it is pulling, but my handlebars are crooked. All i can think of is when we were kids and we had to grab the front tire of our bicycle between our knees and readjust our handlebars |
