----------------- For the second race weekend of the season, Qatar stepped it up, particularly on the thermometers, with track surface seeing well above 50 degrees Celsius by the time the lightweight class kicked off proceedings. Riders soldiered on regardless and Jaume Masia led the way with a particularly strong time given the conditions. Last weekend’s victor showed off his speed once again, ending FP1 over half a second faster than the field led by Dennis Foggia. Filip Salac also made a late jump inside the top three, while John McPhee briefly led the way before dropping down to fourth position.
