If Sturgis is too landlocked, and Daytona’s not far enough of a ride to quench your two-wheelin’ appetite, check out this year’s Wharf Rat Rally. The 10th annual event takes place in the quiet fishing town of Digby on the Bay of Fundy side of Nova Scotia.*The free event bills itself as Canada’s largest outdoor motorcycle rally.

“What it is, even for the non-biker, is a family friendly spectacle of bikers, of vendors of all sorts, music and entertainment,” says the event’s executive director, Andy Kerr.

Approximately 25,000 motorcycles rode into Digby for*last year’s rally. During the five-day event nearly 64,000 people (non-bikers included) participated in rally events.

“I’m not a biker,” Kerr*says with a laugh. “The people that come here that are non-bikers, they come to look at these very expensive and very beautiful customized bikes. They come to see the biker culture and there’s also something for everybody.”

This year’s rally features top-end custom motorcycle builders from across North America, a custom motorcycle competition, demo rides, time trials, and motorcycle stunters on the wharf.*Best part is… it’s free.

“It’s usually pretty empty, a fishing town. Not a lot of business goes on in the other months,” says Kerr. “But the creep into town of the bikes and the vendors every year, it’s incredible.”
