Haven't been on the board in a bit. I've been focusing on healing and getting some normalcy back in my life. I took a break from my business as well and put everything on hold for the last three months.

Went to to my leg doc and he is tickled. My femur is on the way to almost being completely mended. The last surgery I had in Dec really did the job and walking is becoming more enjoyable instead of just agony.

My fooot is slowly and I do mean SLOWLY healing. The pain is still there every day, but not excruciating anymore. A couple of my toes are locked and working on getting the flexibility back into my foot. I'm almost to the point of not needing a cane. I don't use a cane when I'm at home.

The muscles are still learning how to work all over again on my left leg, from my hip to my toes. It'll get there, just have to give it time.

I'm going to try to get back on a bike this weekend. My goal was to be back on my bike by 23 Jul 10, 1 year from the date of the accident. We'll see. If I'm not ready then so be it, I'll just keep working towards that goal.

That's great news, Becky! thanks

Just know there are people here that care about you and are concerned how your recovery is going. Sounds like much progress has been made. Don't push yourself to make any self imposed deadlines. Heal well, completely, and take care of yourself.

much aloha!

I am new to the site and to riding, and just finished reading all 10 pages of what happened.
I must admit my eyes were rather watery at times.. and Becky you are such an inspiration on how well you were able to cope with all this.
I'm terribly late, but I want to give you my biggest hug for what you've been through and for the amazing healing progress.

Talking

It's been a bit. I've been enjoying this glorious summer. My husband and I are going to the Grand Canyon tomorrow. Not ready to take a motorcycle trip there yet, but soon I'll be riding a lot more.

On July 23rd, exactly 1 year to the date of my accident, I got back on a bike again and took it for a spin around the block! I met my goal and was completely ecstatic afterwards! It was the hardest thing I've done, overcoming the fear, weakness and just plain not knowing if I was going to have to sell my new bike the next day or not. I was beyond shaking and kept telling myself, I have to do this!

The physical therapy continues daily as part of my normal routine. I am almost to the point of being cane free. Just getting around daily still takes some effort. Rebuilding those muscles takes time.

Thank you all for your support. It's been a long, grueling year as I look back on it. My deepest, heartfelt thanks to everyone!

I'm taking my bike around the block for another spin today!

Hi Becky, we've never spoken cuz i'm new to this motorcycle world. I'm not familiar with the layout of the other site so i'm not sure how the accident happened or what happened, none the less, any accident is horrifying! i'm so sorry you have gone through so much pain physically and mentally. however, I commend you, based on your posts seems you have bounced back tremendously after enduring so much. I'm glad to see you back and actually riding again. You have so much strength and determination and I admire you for that. Keep your head up!

Paulette, the accident happened because an oncoming driver lost control of their car and hit me head-on.

Each day is a miracle. The last year has been both an emotional and physical roller coaster. Though the support of my family and friends I've come a long way.

Thank you all for your encouragement during this time! You're the best!
