Project 250R Completed

After several weeks I have finally completed turning a 2009 SE into an all white machine! = )

R&G Left Hand Side Bracket with Ignition Coil Relocated above R&G Bracket

Another View of the R&G Left Hand Bracket

R&G Right Hand Side Bracket with Ignition Coil Relocated above the R&G Bracket

View of the Tsukigi Full Stainless Steel Exhaust

Front Fairing that I bought from Ebay that was once Blue

Bike Bolts Kit I bought because the Well Nuts were crap.

Crappy OEM Well Nuts next to new Well Nuts

Shot showing the new Well Nut installed on the Front fairing to hold the headlight.

Front Fairing / Headlight / Mirrors on and all together.

Shots of the front fender that I bought from Ebay that was once green.

Front Fender fitted and installed.

Front Fairing and Fender Installed.

Dyno Jet Stage 2 Kit and Spare Carbs I bought off Ebay

Scary drill bit that I used to drill the bottom of the carbs.

Bottom of Carbs drilled.

Float bowl screws were stripping when I tried to do it by hand. Used a Table Vice and a #2 Phillips screw driver. A lot easier! = )

98 Jets from Dyno Jet next to Stock Jets

Thingamabob that I used to siphon all the gas out of the original tank.

Removing old fuel gauge sensor and petcock (always make me laugh = D )

Fuel sensor moved - Reused OLD seal.

Old seal looks crappy didn't want to risk it leaking and not sealing correctly.

New seal $4 from the dealer.. why not right?

Spare tank that I bought from Ebay that was once red with gas cap swapped over

Gas Tank on!

Tail piece from Ebay. RH side was Blue and LH side was Red

Tail pieces on! Sexy!

R&G Tidy Tail! Looks good and has 3 little LEDS on the plate.

Fairings on - Both pieces from Ebay - Originally Red

RH R&G Bracket fits perfectly through the fairing.

Walk Around

GPR Steering Damper

Dude it just took me 45 mins to enter all the links for the pictures.... then I got a message - MAX 50 Images only! LOL so I had to split it up and fix stuff. Great through. Its too bad I tried to embed a preview thing because I host all my pictures on fotki but looks like I can't so I had to add the pictures one by one.

Hope you enjoy the pictures. I bet all of you thought I didn't really have a ninjette huh! = D

Huh??? you had a brand new, fast green bike and purposely made it slower by painting it white? Is this a safety feature you built in so the wife keeps the speed down?

nice work!

Thanks, took me a long time to get everything together. It took her two weeks to pick a color. At least its the only white one in the Boston area that I know of.\

I guess he didn't realize the paint used on the green bikes is composed of a special compound which reduces drag 50% as compared to the other colors.

He now has to add 50 stickers to make up for the loss.

The green paint is also lighter than air, which subtracts a few grams from the rest of the bike. When the engine and sun heats it up it gets even lighter.

Duh. Anyone with half a brain knows that a white undercoat can only work with purple with cream-colored polka dots (anyone else remember that from the old Dennis the Menace cartoon where he visits the car factory?).

Total was $850 included repairing the front nose, both L & R fairing, front fender, L rear fairing and a quarter sized dent on the L side of the tank and removing the Kawasaki logo. The only pieces that were flawless were the NEW seat cowl and NEW R rear tail. LoL It would have been less including all the repairs if I didn't have the inside of the all the panels primed white as well. I'm a little picky since I've worked in the autobody before. Nothing irks me more than a nice EXSPENSIVE paint job on the car but none of the door jams are painted and still have the original color.

I thought about that for a long long time. Since I wasted money and bought a hotbodies undertail and I was hoping for the best and it just didn't fit the way I wanted it to, I had to buy a new under tray and picked up the R&G Tail. Agreed that the rear hugger would turn heads but how many 250R in the US have R&G Sliders and GPR Damper as well?

Here goes the story of the steering damper....

I originally bought the wife a F4i which is a heavier bike than the 250R. I found a damper on CL for $225, new in original shrink package and never opened. I sold it before I got around to installing it. Then I got the 250R and wondered if I could use it on the bike with the right mounting brackets.

A phone call to GPR and they stated that the F4i used a V1 model and the new 250R used a V4 model and there were not compatible mounts for it. So I asked jokingly if I could send the current one I had in as a trade towards a newer one. The tech guy asked me if it was opened or in the original packaging. I told them it was in the original packing. Tech responded, "Well, as along as its in the original packaging, never opened and in retail condition we will exchange it for the one you need since both are still selling for $495."

I agreed immediately and got a RMA number to make the exchange, sent it back and in about a week I got a newer V4 and 100%+ return on my initial $225 investment.

I've ridden the 250R and I personally don't like and/or feel comfortable with the front being so light and wobbly. I've intentionally wobbled the front by giving L & R alternating input and its a lot scarier than my zx10. I figured since I have it, I'd use it. Better safe than sorry I guess. It's not like I can't take it off and put it on a EX500 in the future or even a GS500F (now I'm in trouble with Alex....) when the wife has more experience and wants to move up the cc ladder.

GPR Steering Damper

Hi John,

Did you have any trouble ibstallibg the gpr stabilizer. It seems pretty straitforward to me, however the steering mount bolt is coming up short. Did you have to replace the steering mount bolt?

Thnx
