So, the other day. I took my 250 to the gas station to fill up & then this cute girl was in her civic si. & she's like, "hey, is that the 650 or 250? "I told her the 250 & she said, "wow, you're only on a 250, can you get on the highway with that? Haha, my civic would burn you." I asked her, do you ride ? She replied, "yeah, I ride an '09 GSXR 750. See you around little 250!" & then she drove off.

I have to say I've never gotten the tendency of people to hate on other peoples' motorcycles due to perceived small displacement. I too had similar experiences when I owned my Ninja.

My mom had a very sweet '69 Mustang with a six cylinder engine. I loved that car. Got to drive it a bunch growing up. Anywho, the worst response I ever got driving that car was one or two folks looking disappointed when I informed them it was not a V8. Not once did anyone ever say something that could be considered condescending or rude. Why didn't they do that? 'Cause it would have been condescending and rude! Duh.

Also, in aviation, same thing. Not once have I heard someone verbally abuse me or others about flying a small displacement airplane.

What is it about motorcycles that allows folks the freedom to say stupid stuff about displacement? What!?

I need a drink.

If I get comments like that I just tell them they're welcome to line up against the cage. Most squids that would say that to you ride used 600-1k cause they can't afford a fast car and couldn't ride for **** anyway. Prolly wanna run you from a roll on the highway.

I pull up in from of my brother's house, the first and only day i've had it out so far.

Random hooligan: thats a hell of a nice looking bike
Me: Thanks man it's her maiden voyage
Random hooligan: What CC is that?
Me: 250
Random hooligan: thats how big my quad is. mine'll do a buck fitty.
Me: yeah these 250's are fast. Mine does what I need her to.
Random hooligan: I've never had a street bike but my buddy is selling a 600 honda something (exact words). I said it might be too slow ya know. I was thinking I'd need something faster because my quad can go that fast.
Me: Well... hope it works out for you. Make sure you have one of these -holds up helmet-
Random hooligan: you know they block your vision right?
Me: Maybe but they keep your brains in one spot when your head hits the ground

That is pretty damn funny.

What are some of the best responses ninjetters have said in defense?

Have you met a navy pilo..., errr I mean "aviator"? "My jet's faster, goes higher, and is so much cooler than yours." Lol. I get verbally abused by passengers for not flying the 777 into Bloomington, IL. Sorry for the non-stop small jet service ma'am! I personally like flying the small ones better, the freedom, sightseeing, and relaxation of cruising at 100kts @ 1500'. That's real flying.

"Hey man, what size is that?"

Every. Time.

I feel like if people can't recognize a 250, it's a decent sign they're not big into motorcycles hahah.

The question they ask immediately after I reply "250"?
"Can you pop a wheelie?"

I have a couple.
My Army Unit Commander used to call me "Baby Bike".
I've had people ask me how fast it goes, I tell them" Until I let off the throttle".

I had a guy ask me what kind of top speed I can get on it. And I told him about 110 or 115 (mph) on a good day. His response: "Oh! So you don't even need that helmet!"

Part of me thinks people shouldn't be able to ride a supersport on the street until they're 25 and the other part wants to go as fast as possible as much as possible.

"How does your husband like his Ninja?" I get that question at least once a week during riding season and I never run out of snarky comebacks.

I'm a similar way on the subject, except experience based. Imagine a system that let you ride a supersport/superbike on the street so long as you met an annual quote of track days

As I was sitting in the alley drinking beer, like king of the hill, and gluing my farring back together i got to piss off my first random.

guy pulls up: hey bro, you wana sell that?

me: sure for the right price (i was going to tack on at least another hundred to that price for calling me bro)

guy: yeah my boy wants something to ride for a month intill he learns how

right now i know that no way in hell will i give him this bike to trash but im buzzed and love poking bears so....

me: oh so you ride? what do you have?

guy: a gixer 1000....waited for me to be impressed...yeah im a big guy so you know. (he is about 180lb) how big is that thing?

me: about 31inches, so you don't even have to shift that, got chicken strips on it?

guy: naw bro it's stock, i ment the motor.

me: oh, that's much smaller, only about a foot and a half,

sadly he gave up and drove away at this point when i was just getting ready to tell him how cool chicken strips would make his bike look.
