buying cheap ebay fairings?????

o i wanted to do a street fighter for the bike at first. then i ran into the problem of getting a good bight headlight. i also started adding things up i want a tire fairing and a race tail. so i went started looking and i saw it coming up pretty fast. so i then found cheap complete fairing sets for about $250. but i would be face with the problem of buying a headlight which i havent found for cheap yet and i also need a front fairing stay. when i got the bik i threw everything that was broke away. now im kick myself cuz i know the stay i could have fixed

are the cheap fairings worth it. seems like everyone says stay away from them. if that is the case i will go back to the street fighter.

A friend of mine got a Chinese fairing kit for his CBR 4FI , while it looks great, they are definitely not the same quality as OEM.

They are thinner, and seems not as forgiving as OEM pieces, but then again you get what you pay for. They came prepainted, and ready to install, not a bad bargain for the money.

Well, fairings are just plastic, so they can't really be "horrible" I've not seen any good reviews, or bad for that matter.

I know everyone talks about weight when it come to bike but what about using sound deadener on the underside of the fairings. At least where the weak points are. But what's the going price for the front fairing stay and head light? I'm not seeing these for under $100 each

Just to throw in my opinion a complete new plastics kit is $500 bucks ( either $250 and $250 shipping or $500 and free shipping) The quality isn't the same as OEM they are alittle thinner and after installing a complete set we couldn't line up 2 bolts so not to bad in the fitment department and I will say it looked pretty damn good except for a pinstriping that was done with TAPE (torn off)It gets a lot of attention and a lot of people tell me that it looks great. It just depends on if you can find a kit that you like enough to pay 500 bucks

I found u paint complete sets on eBay for $250 shipped. There's even a guy here in Cali. But the reason I'm on the fence cuz it seems I can't find a front fairing stay and headlight for a cheap price. And that half my fault from throwing my fairing stay away.

That does sux, start searching eBay, and the for sale section.

Another option is I remember somebody did a modification so a zx6 style headlight to fit the OEM fairing.

If I got the front stay and headlight for cheap I would be set... If I went with a street fighter look it would save me about $300

This is the direct link. The discrepancy in price is due to the addition of the gas tank cover.

Where would I start a thread on my bike to keep up with all sorts of modifications/maintenance? I would like to post everything in its own thread.

As far as unpainted fairings go, you can get them but you will eventually get them painted and it comes up to be the same with the risk of the paint not being too good. I would suggest spending the extra $100-150 and getting the painted ones unless you want to paint them yourself or have a hookup somewhere

Also the quality is definitely not bad. For the price, its actually pretty good and I say that from experience. I will try to upload a couple pictures if I can of my bike when I put the Chinese fairings on

My Ninjette

As you can see, the quality and fitting is fine. The fitting might not be as good as OEM but not bad in any way shape or form

Khan. Did you order a screw kit as well? Or just reused the original screws?

I think this guy or a guy affiliated with this site used to post on here - http://tyga-performance.com/site/

They have some fairly inexpensive OEM fairings.

I used the stock screws. If you are missing only some, and dont want to invest in a whole kit, you can also get them from home depot for pretty cheap. Just take the same bolt from the other side and ask an employee to match it. 20-40 cents / screw if I recall correctly

Man yall gonna think I'm playing....I found a guy who sold me a 250 frame with out the front end and motor for $220. I picked it up Sunday. I will post a pic when I go back over to the in laws. Only fairing I didn't get was the tail.

Great looking frame
Headlight
Rearsets...(from the 1st gen but they fit)
Rear tire and rim which were still on the bike.
All fairing accept tail

Oh and also I didn't take the tank since mine is good. I could have probably got a complete bike from him for $300 but I didn't want to spend or take more then I needed

Funny timing. I just got it in yesterday. I have installed a part or two. I'll post pictures whenI get a chance. I'm also in the middle of locating the screws for the main fairings considering that I haven't had any for a while and I had lost the screws.

This is the only thing I have installed so far. I transferred the gaskets over from the old parts. Disregard the seat. Not screwed in.
