Motorcycle(s): I don't even know anymore??

Someone go to VA and buy this for me

copy of sales ad txt from DC craigslist ad. what can i sell to make this happen A man can dream am i right?

I am selling my 1990 Honda NSR 250R MC-21 two stroke motorcycle. For those unfamiliar with this bike, it is the street version of Honda's legendary 250cc Moto GP race bike, the NSR250. Despite it's small displacement, this is not a beginner's motorcycle! The two stroke engine is very powerful for its size and the bike weighs in at less than 300lbs. On a twisty road, it will leave larger displacement bikes in the rear view mirror. Plus the sound, feel, and power delivery of the two stroke engine is unlike any four stroke motorcycle. The MC-21 model was brand new in 1990, and was a huge step up from the earlier MC-16 and MC-18 models. In addition to new body work and the super sexy gull-arm swingarm design, the MC-21 utilized the PGMIII ECU from the RC30 superbike, giving it true 3D ignition. Suspension was upgraded and the rear wheel diameter was decreased from 18" to 17" to fit the most advanced tires. The bike is in overall great condition, with 11,117km (<7,000 miles) on the clock. There are a few minor scratches on the bodywork (see pictures) but no other significant damage. The bike kick starts from cold on the first try and runs/revs very smoothly.

Honda never sold this bike in the U.S. as the EPA banned most two stroke powered road vehicles in the '70's. As such, they are extremely rare. There are a handful of these bikes in the U.S., some here legally, and others illegally. In general, two strokes less than 25 years old are still banned by the EPA, so use caution if you are looking at a similar bike that is newer than 1990. This bike was imported legally by myself directly from Japan, and I have all the US Customs paperwork to verify its legality. I also have a clean and clear Virginia title in my name, which has an 11 digit VIN that matches the bike's frame number.

Video: I have posted two videos at the below youtube links. The first video is a quick review of the bike; the second shows the bike starting and running from cold. Enjoy...

I'm about 3 miles from there, but about $7,499.50 short to purchase it for you.

I honestly had no idea what these usually go for, but that price is far more reasonable than I expected. With modern bodywork on them they're even more desirable. Why must you tempt us/me subzero?

bodywork example (links to higher res version):

edit: If I shell out for it, I'm not sharing it :P

Not even with your neighbors?

I'll throw in my fifty cents to help pay for it.

Nearly spit out my afternoon coffee I guess we can split it proportionally based on our investment.

http://www.nsr250.net/history_mc21.html has a lot of info about these bikes. Their power numbers are closer to the EX500.

For direct comparison, here's the stock version of that color scheme.

Also note the inverted forks and single-sided swingarm - it's not just cosmetic changes on that one.

You're absolutely right, it is miles beyond cosmetics for that particular bike. The important part, with regard to my use of the image, is that the bodywork on that Tyga Performance project bike is available as a complete kit for the MC21.

You can head to their site if you'd like more details on the 75hp, 115kg (253 lbs) wet weight monster they've created, if you're interested. The obvious changes you pointed out are CBR600RR forks and what they list as an HRC swingarm (which seems to be single sided in all the examples I've spoted of MC28s, which is what their project bike is - not an MC21). Again though, I only meant to call attention to the fiberglass. My apologies if anyone was misled.

Unfortunately I think I'll sleep better at night with my money in the bank rather than this delightful find in my garage (or in my bed, cuddled gently and lovingly caressed ). Also, did anyone else notice that there's a pair of them in the seller's photo?

that's the beauty of 2 strokes. a few hundred bucks can net this bike over 60hp fairly easily with out breaking a sweat. 70hp from a tuned 250 2t twin is not uncommon. I think the 40-50hp numbers that come with the bike as delivered is because it is actually detuned and a few simple mods like ecu and some other things gets it over 60 pretty quick. Can't remember exactly, been a while since I did any research on these as I have never had any hopes of actually owning one.

I know the tz250s net 70hp fairly easily and the nsr's are supposed to be on par with them. the Aprilia rs250s trail a little in ponies and I feel like low to mid 60's is a more reasonable number for those.

Spot on, as I read it. A wire splice and aftermarket exhaust gets you to about 60hp according to Tyga's dyno numbers. Trivial stuff to unlock that power. They seem to be a popular platform in the rest of the world, so there's lots and lots of info out there.
