I'm thinking of planning a ride for Sunday Nov 4th. The 3rd is my birthday. It will be a 118 mile loop with some back roads, towns, highway and lots of scenery. Bear Mountain, Seven Lakes Drive, and a spot I know on state route 52 near Ellenville, Ny that is the top of the Shawangunk Ridge Mtn. It will be a mostly all day thing starting with meeting at my house in Monroe for any tech work and ending at the same spot for pizza. Not quite a birthday party but close to it. Any interest???

Hey Dan, hows the foot? (I read the post, but seriously, how is it?)
Bear Mountain/Harriman sounds good but we all planned another cycle gear/Tech day on Saturday AGAIN. lol This will be a real one though. We are leaving extremely early regardless of how cold it is, and are heading back early. We have planned to hook up the rest of the accessory plugs to whoever needs them, by flush mounting onto the fairing somewhere. We will also wash bikes, chain clean & lube, oil changes, I want to check my forks which I think have busted seals or something, replace brake pads for whoever needs them, fix urban's fairings, discuss blue tooth headsets and other random maintenance. I don't mind going afterward to Bear Mountain/Harriman if you are willing to wait or have time and don't mind. Also, there is a small chance that I might not go to cycle gear at all but participate in the Tech Day. I have ordered some things online and not sure if I NEED to go to cycle gear. @urbaninja @kraazy @Rollin.. @Brooklyn @SSG54 |

Tech day...riding....tech day riding....
I sorta cleaned and lubed my chain last week but it was definitely a half assed job. I still need to do an oil change, clean/lube chain, check the chain slack etc. Sorry I had to bail last week. I'm going to be blunt. I had to piss so bad I could barely see straight. Every bump on the BQE was torture. I exited off, went home quick, ran back out, and tried to catch up with you guys but no dice. I could do an early tech day then maybe head up to bear mtn/harriman like we did 2 weeks ago with eddie? @eddiekay you need to do any maintenance on your bike? Where's @Klondike1020 been? I think he said he lived up near Bear Mtn and he had access to a garage? |

Nah...being in the burbs i have the considerable luxury of a driveway so my chain gets lubed, pulled and tire puffed up pretty often. It makes a huge difference when you have a place to work,...eh? Dan...if you decide to hang back and work on bike that's no prob as I have with 1 or 2 guys around 11:30 ....we plan on doing the "moonshine" roads I mentioned if ground is dry. The roads will still be there next time.

Ahhhh! Figures I come up to work my Sunday shift on a beautiful weekend like this. I'll be home like 4:30 if you are still around Harriman/Bear Mtn then even if only to say what's up. I may take my Ninja to work if anyone local to 215th and Broadway in Manhattan wants to say hi too. I'll be there 8am-4pm

My life has been a mess with work and things.
Yes I live near bear mountain, yes I have access to a garage . Some minimal tools air compressor and a harbor freight near by lol . I have more things taken apart than put together . I found some stress in my frame when I stripped the bike down to clean the carbs Havnt worked on it again in the last few weeks . Too many 70 hour work weeks and then I spend 5 hours each way on the weekends to go see my family upstate But if you guys want to meet up out here and do an autum ride let me know |

Hey guys, whats up? Hope everyone is safe. I rode and must say, THAT S*** CRAY! lol Was pretty fun but can't really recommend anyone to ride through gusts of wind in the 50-70mph range, over the Williamsburg Bridge. Maybe any bridge, but that wind was moving the little scooter. Would a bigger bike had fared better against the wind, and would it be because the extra power that can power it through or the extra weight?
Anyway, youtube upload coming soon. |

When there are gusts of 50+ mph and you are elevated, weight won't really help. My 2700 lb car blows around too. Is rather a light bike so there is less weight to fight with. When the wind stops, our little ninjette is easy to recover from a gust.

Joe, I was thinking that. I remember going to PA in my old car and being moved by wind when traveling over a certain bridge in a valley. I was also thinking that if you give more gas would you be better able to "fight" the wind? I tried once or twice but quickly gave up because everything was starting to move too fast while being over a bridge.

When I took the GW on the way to work, I did a full tuck and did 70 all the way. The wind was a little gusty but the tuck helps to limit your surface area and streamline you. Just my .02 But with what you did I think nothing would help.
I didn't do it during a hurricane either lol
