2007 Ninja 250 Q's
I bought a 2007 Ninja 250 just a couple days ago. This is my first bike and I'm simply addicted haha. I immediately started "freshening it up". I have taken most of the flames off, did my own fender eliminator, swapped the rear blinkers to the front (didn't have front blinker), and straight piped it.
The bike was laid over from previous owner so I was wondering if anyone knows where I could find a new front fairing? I will be going to take my motorcycle license test in it in a couple of days, so I will have to put the exhaust back on. The foot brake peg was bent off from where it was laid over, so I straightened it as best as I could. For the test I need everything to work on the bike but when I press the foot brake, it does not light my brake light up. Could anyone help? Also, when the key is turned on the oil light is also on, any suggestions to what I should check? After I get license I plan to get front flushmount turn signals, tint the back brake and blinkers, tint reflectors, get HID for headlight and then slightly tint the head light housing, the bike is black so I'm debating on painting some parts gold to make it stand it nice. I was also wondering what you guys do to lock the helmet to the bike?? I looked under the seat but didn't see hooks to lock a helmet onto. Thanks in advance!! |

on most motocycles (i don't have your model) in the brake peg theres a spring like the one in this pic
maybe yours is not there. im talking about the small one that goes to the brake sensor, that makes the rear light turn on. |

Don't know how to explain this, but in the pic you can see that stubby spring. The bottom of it runs into a piece of metal and then it becomes that hook that my finger is next to. Nothing is connected to that hook. Is this the issue?? Thanks

Welcome to the board, Dillon!
Oh please leave the mufflers on it after you take the test. Annoying noise gives motorcycles a bad name, and open pipes might get you a ticket. You may also find you need to re-jet the carbs if you leave it that way. Quote:

Triple Jim, I may leave them on until I can get a slip-on or something. The noise it makes straight piped is wretched

10-4. I'm needing this spring soon so I can take my bike to the DMV and take my test. Do you know the length of the spring? I bet napa auto parts could find me a similar spring if I know the size

Actually the first time I rode a street bike was when I went and looked at this Ninja. Hopped on it and was a little wobbly but soon got the hang of it! I used to ride dirt bikes up and down back roads but this is my first ever experience with a street bike and I love it I'm addicted

i don't know the lenght, but i bet you can macgyver it, just get a piece of wire from the sensor to the brake lever hook, test if light turns on, if it doesn't, reduce the lenght of the wire, repeat until it works

eBay has them:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/K104-Kawasak...5WVPpW&vxp=mtr or if you want the spring and a spare switch: http://www.ebay.com/itm/2002-Kawasak...mqkbfg&vxp=mtr I'm not recommending these particular ones, just showing they're available. |

I recommend you to take courses that are available in your state: https://www.tn.gov/safety/article/mrep https://www.tn.gov/safety/topic/classm Taking the basic course will eliminate the need for a Tennessee Driver License Practice Test: "Students who successfully complete either course will receive a completion card and a certificate. The certificate is good for one year from the date of issuance. Those applying for a Tennessee Motorcycle License who bring the certificate from an approved Tennessee training site, pass the Vision Test and pay the required fee will have their license skills and knowledge tests waived." I also recommend this book: Proficient Motorcycling: The Ultimate Guide to Riding Well .... as well as our Riding Skills section. https://www.ninjette.org/forums/showthread.php?t=275565 https://www.ninjette.org/forums/showthread.php?t=97999 https://www.ninjette.org/forums/showthread.php?t=121405

Thanks for all the info!!
In not familiar with the laws in your state, but if you tint the "Required" lights or reflectors in PA, you FAIL inspection. Tinted Brake lights and turn signals may look cool, but they are required to be a certain brightness. If someone cracks into the back of you because they didn't see your tinted brake light, you'd have a tough time proving they did. Just trying to keep you safe! Thanks again for the info, I want to do a fender elimination on my 06. |
