I drove a car today. :(
It was awful. Didn't like it.
Gonna go hop in the shower, scrub 'til I bleed while I rock back and forth and cry in the fetal position now.

It's raining here, and going to rain all week, so my 80 mile a day commute to and from work is in the car this week.

it was my mom's new camry. only 40 miles on it
it's more because i've had to rely on riding these past several months while we've been in between cars, so now i'm a little car-tarded. i actually started feeling claustrophobic in it since i rode through some traffic and didn't have any "play" room between myself and the other cars to maneuver around. .__. --- and i can't tell what speed i'm going at anymore b/c i can't feel the wind or engine vibe! D: i also really miss how our equinox drove (it was used too so i was able to throw it around like i don't give a **** ) and how high it sat. and eventho the turn radius sucked bawlz, i knew how it drove like the back of my hand. it just made me feel like a hypocrite b/c i'm all for saving the planet, and stuff. --- but then again, i hated how the equinox drove when we switched over from the corolla, so perhaps i just need some time for it to grow on me... but for now... and i totally almost titled this thread: "i rode a car today."

yeah...
i love riding, for the most part, but i also hate gearing up. and i would definitely not go out of my way to put on extra wet weathers @_@ just to ride... so a car is really more convenient for days like that or when i'd have to get on base. and now that i have AD friends here and visit them pretty often, i'll want to have a car around.

pfftt. Who needs rain gear? I go out in in Summer gear even if it's raining outside.
Sure I smell if it's humid out, but the rain can't tell me what to do. It's not my real dad. |

yeah who needs to be dry during work, its not like there is some rule that you can't be wet at work. besides i think going 60 mph in a torrential downpour feels GREAT! reminds me of my heroine days (meth amphetamines and bath salts now )

after riding only a motorcycle in every weather condition for every purpose for the past 2 years after breaking my car, i've caved. i've been driving a faded yellow 1988 mitsubishi pickup truck that i borrowed. for some reason i decided to fix it up.
i just... haven't felt like riding. someone asked if it was the heat... no. in fact, i rather enjoy the heat. i grew up in the heat, it makes me feel at home; relaxed. soaking in the sun dazed from your inability to focus on anything but how good it feels to sit back. it wasn't really the other people in cars either, even though i thought that's what it was at the time. honestly they make me more angry when i drive the truck. a fool in his cage is a thought in the past on a bike. spending your focus on the dangers might find you safety, but you'll be lost on the beauty of ignorance. and sometimes you just need to take the long route

but that could've also been something i got from habitually throwing the SUV around. @alex.s: i know what you mean. i've felt burnt out from riding before. and largely due to having to rely on it as my only form of transportation. and when most of your rides consist of commuting through traffic to places you don't particularly enjoy, you start associating riding w/ it. it kinda takes the fun out of it. like getting a job relating to your hobby. kinda ruins the experience.

I've been riding around on my '94 rust-bucket of a toyota corolla for the past two weeks while I waited for my rearsets to arrive from Singapore. I hated EVERY second of it and every time I saw riders, my heart squirmed in anguish and envy. I'm a couple of days away from finishing installing all the new stuff I bought for the bike (Koso RX2, X-Race Predator rearsets, Galfer SS lines, Woodcraft Clip-ons/Driven Bars) and I can't wait!!
Only thing I enjoyed about riding around...I mean, 'driving' around...was having cold drinks, smoothies and milkshakes to slurp on while out in the heat...but I won't miss it and, not to mention, my health will also benefit.

I still feel like I need the car for practical purposes. For getting groceries, conducting business (can't ride in a suit), etc.
I guess you can find ways to make do, but it's too much trouble. I think it would be nice to have at least a beater truck or something. |

Low-end torque is virtually nonexistent and the suspension is sooo soft (probably to make a more smooth/comfortable ride). It's so sad trying to take off from a stop and I barely wanted to merge from my bumper-to-bumper lane into a faster-moving freeway exit lane b/c I wasn't sure if I could get in there fast enough to keep up w/ the flow before someone rear ends me or forcing them to slow down quickly or even have to stop on my behalf. And I didn't wanna gas it from a dead stop b/c the burst of speed would've been too jarring for me to control easily (as I'm still trying to get used to the car).
Times like these makes me miss the bike and equinox... I've been spoiled by their more agile and responsive handling. It's true what they say... You don't know what you're missing until it's gone... The only pros I found was a comfortable seat, less phsical work involved, a/c - esp. when traffic slowed to a crawl, and radio. --- grrr compromises...

ah!...previous statement retracted.
but still that's no excuse, where I'm from, the man isn't bothered nor burdened by childcare and a man who lets those squalling hairless things control his life is no man at all.

I only have the car now. I've come to terms with the fact that this will be my car until the wheels fall off. No motorcycle for me...at least not in the near future. At least I have the bicycles...so I can kind of get that motorcycle feeling....just with an elevated heart rate over what you all have.

I like my corolla it gets me there and back most comfortably. I sometimes put my left foot on my seat while I drive. Anyone else do this?
