EZ Pass Transponders

Anyone else have issues with toll booths not always reading their transponders? I rode from VA to PA Friday entering the PA turnpike in Breezewood and exiting in Somerset. No charges have shown up on my account so I am just waiting for a ticket. I then rode from Pittsburgh back to Breezewood on Sunday and those toll charges are showing up.

My question is, if anyone else has experienced this how easy is it to get fixed? The reason I have the transponder is to save me time and hassle...

If you have the EZ-Pass account tied to your bike & license plate, I would think that it would find your account and bill you appropriately, rather than give you a ticket. That's how it works for FasTrak.

Last month I went through a bunch of EZ-Pass tolls across the country, and some were before I successfully set up my account, so I also wonder if some tickets or other charges might find their way to me.

A few times I have gone through a gate and not gotten a green light showing my transponder was not read but a few days later the normal charge would find it's way to my account with no extra charge. However in PA where they charge you depending on were you get on and off, they charge $5 flat fee for ghost on or offs. $5 is a lot better then last year when they would charge the maximum of $27.

Hmm, Im hoping they just find my account and charge me the proper toll rather than getting a ticket.

It's also interesting to see it show when you enter and exit the toll roads. Hopefully they don't issue tickets based on these times.... I made it from entering the toll road in Pittsburgh/Monroeville to Breezewood in an hour and 25 minutes. Typically that is a 2 hour drive. I knew I was speeding, but damn....

I have a ton of trouble with EZPass in New York. NJ and PA it picks me up without issues but in NY it's a disaster.

My bike is registered in PA so I get 50 dollar tickets from the Port Authority that I always have to dispute.

I saw the ghost charge info, but it didnt register me entering in Breezewood or exiting in Somerset. If they got my tag on either end or both hopefully I just get the charge for the toll..

How much is the normal toll. you may save money with a ghost charge
I do not think this applies to you being Va Lic. but if you have a motorcycle specsific PA EZ-Pass it is a 25% discount off the car EZ-Pass

I have no idea what the toll normally is... I didnt realize there was a bike specific transponder. I just took the one out of my car and put it on my bike for the trip.

That looks just like the one I have from my car except my car doesnt have the sticker that says MC on it. Oh well, I dont mind paying the full toll. Plus I will be up that way more during the winter in my car for ski season. Anyone ski Hidden Valley or Seven Springs? My friends parents just got a house in Hidden Valley, so I may be spending weekends there a lot this season.

It takes me about 3 to 4 hours to get to Hidden Valley where the house is. It is right in the resort. :-)
