I know this is quite a time after the OP but I've been reading through every post I can find since getting my new bike. After removing the airbox, installing pods, installing 2 washers on needles and moving mixture screw out 2.5 turns, on taking it for short test runs I do hear a rattling noise. Such that I've searched the chain cover and exhaust to make sure nothing was loose.

Is this from overheating or running too lean? I should be receiving my new Keihin jets today so the lean condition would be fixed after a few tests. And another poster here asked about the exhaust turning blue near head, which mine also is starting to. Luckily I can't ride the bike around for too long(to do much damage) as I'm getting issues from dept of transportation when going to register it, so I have a huge interconnected developement I can get it around pretty good but not too long of a time period.

Thanks in advance should you guys be reading this again

edit : mine is a 2007 but I'd assume these signs are universal

Posts: Too much.
you are running way too lean now. don't ride the bike until you install the new larger main jets or you risk permanent engine damage.

Thanks very much. That rattle was confusing me to no end. With it being a breezy 85 here it's been hard to not ride today but yea, big engine repair would be a lot harder.

-Thanks again!

For future reference and to avoid making a new thread, should the blue pipes go away over time once the lean is sorted out or will they stay that way regardless now?
